Dear Friends and Families of ACA,
In Deut. 32:3-4 is a great declaration of the God we serve. These verses are in the song Moses composed after writing down the Law. He was extolling God and God’s character and faithfulness. We at Augustine Christian Academy want to extol Him as well, and put our lives and fortunes into His hands.
“For I will proclaim the name of the Lord;
ascribe greatness to our God.
The Rock, His work is perfect, for
all His ways are justice.
A God of faithfulness and without iniquity,
just and upright is He.”
You should have received the Fall 2009 edition of the Augustine Forum magazine, which gives a good overview of our school. We are so grateful for the 30% increase in our enrollment. Even this past week, we have spoken with three families that want to enroll their students for second semester. Why the interest? Simple – we are a great school, academically, socially, and spiritually. We are a safe place to learn in an atmosphere that is non-threatening with a focus on building Biblical character. ACA is a school “as schools used to be” but so few schools follow the tried and true pattern of classical education.
You are invited to attend two events coming up in December as we close out 2009.
December 4th – Our annual Festive Christmas Celebration will be held at Will Rogers United Methodist Church at 11th and Yale in Tulsa. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. Together we will celebrate the birthday of the King of Kings; even the heavens celebrate with us. We will hear the book of James recited and watch a very clever grammar school play. Plus there will be special music and lots of Christmas cookies. An offering will be taken to express our love and respect for the teachers and staff of ACA.
December 11th, 12th, & 13th – “The Nutcracker” performances by the ACA Junior Performing Arts Company consisting of grammar and middle school students. You’ll want to experience this wonderful Christmas production! Tickets are on sale now in the school office and on the school web site: http://acatulsa.org. Performances are at 7:00 p.m. on that Friday and Saturday, and at 2:00 p.m. that Sunday. We’ll see you there!
First semester final exams are on December 16th, 17th, and 18th. School dismisses at 2:00 p.m. on the 16th and at noon on the 17th and 18th. ACA will be on Christmas Break from noon December 18th until January 4th when the teachers return. Students return to begin second semester on Tuesday, January 5th. This school year is going so quickly! The only explanation I can give for the speed is being busy.
This fall we conducted our first ever outdoor Grailball tournament. What excitement! Grailball is an ACA original game played on our back field with two towers with windows and Nerf balls. It was very interesting as we had a lot of rain over the couple of weeks the students were playing, but the consensus was that a wet, muddy field made for a more exciting game. Rotating trophies were awarded to the winning Houses.
Looking forward into 2010, we anticipate a fun and inspirational Winter Court for our high school students on January 29th. Auditions took place this past week for the April production of “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers”. Over 60 high school students have been cast in this fast paced, action packed theater experience. There will be lots of singing, dancing, and gymnastic activity in this musical. Watch the ACA web site for updates and ticket information. I have no doubt this will be a sold out event!
I want to express my thanks for your prayers and support for Augustine Christian Academy. Our fund raising banquet with Mr. Mart Green was very successful and everyone had a good time as well. Once all the pledges are in, we will clear over $26,000. This is the most we have ever raised at our fall event, so we are most grateful. Our donation goal for the fiscal year is $150,000, so adding the donations from the banquet to other donations that have come in this year means that we need $120,000 to meet our goal. Your year-end giving to ACA is tax deductible and is much appreciated.
Pray for our teachers, staff, and students as we close out this semester and begin the second semester. All of us at ACA hope that you will have a blessed Christmas season.
Sincerely,
Larry J. Ehrlich, D. Phil. Administrator
