Administrator's Monthly Letter

Dear ACA Parents,

We are all feeling the pressure of the end of school and I know it’s the same for many of our families. Bless you as you hang in there with your students and their studies, Americana Festival projects, Science Fair experiments, and just the normal daily events.

Enrollment for 2008-2009 is progressing nicely. We have had 140 students this year and we would like to see an increase to 160+ students for next year. If you haven’t yet turned in your re-enrollment form, please do so quickly to hold your student’s place in class. Your re-enrollment helps us with our scheduling of classes, purchasing books and materials, and just the general planning that gets us ready for the fall. I encourage you to talk to those around you about enrolling at ACA.

Upcoming Events:

Americana Festival – Saturday, April 19th, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. This is a school day for ALL of our students. We are counting this as a make-up day for the December ice storm. All of our students and every class are involved in producing exhibits for this event. Entrance to the Americana Day Festival is $5 for adults and $3 for students not enrolled at ACA. See the enclosed flyer for more information.

Connected to the Americana Festival is a large silent auction. Many items and baskets will be available to bid on including: OU basket OSU basket OU baby basket Sport balls basket book baskets posters Restaurant certificates specialty food baskets beverage basket Candle basket Cherokee craft items Discoveryland tickets Gift items and much, much more

Invite your friends, neighbors, and relatives to this educational experience. Lunch and concessions will be available, a coffee house is planned, plus there will be crafts, games, and stage entertainment from within our school and from outside the school. Sports celebrities (including the Drillers’ Hornsby) will be here to sign autographs. We hope to raise $5000 for the school during this festival.

Open House – April 23rd, 1:00-4:00 p.m. Other visitation times can be arranged by calling the school office. Students also have the option of “shadowing” a current student for a day. Shadowing must be scheduled in advance with the school office.

SPECIAL THANKS to Mrs. Gale Post and her team, Mr. Kirk Brewer, Mrs. Dawn Redden, Mrs. Linda Geppelt, and Mr. Kenneth Jones; and Mr. Kirk Post and the many parent, friend, and alumni volunteers who made “The Music Man” a most memorable production. Our student actors were wonderful and I heard rave reviews from members of the audience. Thank you all! DVD’s of the performance and a photo cd are available – order yours in the ACA office. You can see a sampling of the photos and a sneak peek of the dvd on our web site, acatulsa.org.

NEEDS: We are in need of a commercial double door refrigerator. If you know where we might be able to purchase a good used one, please call the office. One of our kitchen refrigerators died this week and the other one is soon going that same direction. Many of our students rely on the kitchen refrigerators to keep their lunches cold, and we use them for refreshments for events held at the school. A heavier duty commercial type refrigerator would be helpful us. We could also use an upright freezer, commercial or home style.

Just a reminder that the Charger newsletter is now put on the ACA web site each Wednesday instead of being sent home with students. Check the web site often or subscribe to the news feed to stay up to date on what is happening at Augustine Christian Academy.

Sincerely,

Larry J. Ehrlich, D. Phil.
