AMERICAN LITERATURE FESTIVAL

The decorating has begun and props are being built for the American Literature Festival on Saturday, April 14th, 9:00 - 3:00. The Grammar School classes and secondary literature classes are hard at work on their plays and projects. Invite your family and friends to attend this event with you! Students should plan to attend because this will count as one of our make-up days from the ice storm earlier this year.

COMMUNITY CLUB AWARDS

Thank you to everyone who has been participating in our Community Club Awards program! Our final "turn in day" is here, so receipts are due at the school by this Friday, March 30th. Drop your receipts and proofs of purchase in the Golden Garbage container located inside the office door. Don't forget, because this is our last turn in day for this year. We will find out the final amount of our earnings in May.

TALENT SHOW DVD NOW AVAILABLE

Kenneth Jones has put together an incredible DVD of the SAA Talent Show that was held on March 2nd in our auditorium. You can get your copy in the school office for a minimum donation of $15. If you attended this awesome Talent Show sponsored by the Class of 2007, you will want to add this special DVD to your SAA collection! If you missed the talent show, you will definitely want to get one! You can see a preview of the DVD on the SAA website.

ITEMS NEEDED FOR AMERICAN LITERATURE FESTIVAL

Our American Literature Festival will be here before we know it and we need some help from our parents. Since this event is open to the public with displays all over the building, we will need a few parents to help with security. Please call the office if you can help part of the day. We also need to borrow the following items: small electric model train, Native American blankets or artifacts, bale of hay, artificial trees, wooden crate (that we can paint), farmer & animal costumes, old fashioned butter churn, pot that hangs in fireplace, log carrier. We also need donations of these items: beads, small jingle bells, feathers, arrowheads, face paint, small magnets, small (new) toys.

DIALECTIC TRIP

April 20-22 the 7th & 8th graders will be taking their trip to Nashville to see the Parthenon and Belle Meade Plantation. Permission slips and payment are due in the school office by Wednesday, April 18th. On Monday, April 23rd the 7th and 8th graders will not be required to attend school so they can rest after the trip.

COLORING CONTEST

The K4/K5 class is sponsoring a coloring contest for the American Literature Festival. Grammar School students have been invited to color a picture of Wilbur and his friends from Charlotte's Web. Friends of SAA will judge the entries and award ribbons in each grade. The K4/K5 class will display all the submissions in their classroom "at the fair". Entries must be turned in to Mrs. Schwenk by Monday, April 9th. Students must have their name and grade on the BACK of their coloring sheet. Thank you for participating and please plan to visit K4/K5 on April 14th at the fair!

TARGET "TAKE CHARGE OF EDUCATION" PROGRAM

Target stores donate 1% of purchases made using their REDcard to schools designated by their customers. We received a check this week from Target for $37.91. If you have a Target REDcard, please consider designating SAA. Go to Target.com for more information.

PLEASE HELP!

We have 3 large frogs coming for a special project, but we need a large (10 gallon or more) aquarium to keep them in for a few days in April. Please call the school office if you have one we could borrow.
