WINTER COURT
ACA’s annual formal event for high school students, Winter Court, will be held on Friday, January 29th. Tickets are $20 per student and are on sale now in the school office. This is a formal event – please check the student handbook for guidelines on dress. Girls who are attending must bring their dress (or a picture of themselves in their dress) to the school office for approval. Winter Court will be different this year than in years past due to the number of high school students. We will not be serving a “sit down dinner” but instead will offer an assortment of savory and sweet hor d’oeuvres and beverages in addition to the entertainment. High school students will not want to miss this exciting event!
On January 29th school will be dismissed at noon for grades K4 - 5th and 9th – 12th. Grades 6-8 will get their instructions from Mrs. Miller this Friday. On January 29th, there will not be after school care available and no lunch will be served.
WINTER COURT WORK DAY THIS SATURDAY
The time has come to set up the auditorium for Winter Court! This Saturday, January 23rd, there will be a Winter Court Work Day, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Mr. Post can’t do it all by himself! All secondary students and parents are welcome to come and help! Please bring your lunch with you.
“SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS”
Any cast parents who did not attend the Tuesday meeting, should plan to attend the meeting tomorrow at 5:15 in the Performing Arts Building. If you have not received a “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers” email and you have a student in the cast, please contact Mrs. Morgan at: morganfamily@sbcglobal.net.
TULSA MARCH FOR LIFE
ACA is encouraging our families to take part in the Tulsa March for Life this Friday, January 22nd. The time is 6:00 – 8:15 p.m. and the route will begin at 8th and Boulder in downtown Tulsa. Parking is available at Holy Family Cathedral, First Methodist, or First Presbyterian. The march will end with a rally at Chapman Centennial Green. People are asked to bring flashlights and pro-life signs. For more information, visit: tulsamarchfolife.wordpress.com. Any ACA secondary student who attends will earn 50 points for their House.
SINGING VALENTINES
Valentine’s Day is in just a few weeks and the ACA Valentine Singers have been practicing their songs. If you would like to surprise your special someone with a Singing Valentine, please turn in your order form and payment to the school office. Order forms are available HERE or in the office. Orders can be mailed, phoned in, or faxed, and soon can be done through the ACA web site as well. The Singing Valentines are a fundraiser for the April performances of “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.”
“NUTCRACKER” DVD’S
YES, we have dvd’s of “The Nutcracker”! The dvd’s cost $20 and are now available in the office. To get your copy (or copies), stop in the school office this week. Please make checks payable to Kenneth Jones. Also, we have a limited supply of “Beauty & the Beast” dvd’s left from last spring and you can get one of those for only $10!
FEBRUARY LUNCH ORDERS
Lunch order forms for the month of February are now available HERE and in the school office. If you are ordering lunches for the month, please turn in your order form and payment by Friday, January 29th.
ODDS AND ENDS
Do you have some odds & ends in a drawer or closet that you just know someone could use? Mrs. Thornhill, ACA art teacher, is looking for donations of things like: egg cartons, frosting tubs, margarine tubs, buttons, ribbon, yarn, feathers, etc. for her Grammar School art classes; so gather up your odds & ends and bring them to the school office.
NEW ATTENDANCE POLICY FOR SECONDARY STUDENTS
ACA understands that occasionally a student may have to miss class. We do our best through the use of yellow absentee slips and the test make up folder to help students make up work when they have had to miss. ACA is not, however, a correspondence school. Much of the value gained in a classical education comes from class discussion and the interaction among students and their teacher. Therefore, we want to encourage students to avoid unnecessary and excessive absences. For this reason we have made two changes in the school attendance policy that you can see HERE. These polices will be implemented immediately and will appear in the new student handbook for next year. Parents, please discuss this policy change with your secondary students so that everyone understands the new policies. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Post in the school office.
