WINTER COURT POSTPONED

Due to the winter storm that is being forecast, ACA’s annual formal event for high school students, Winter Court, has been postponed to next Thursday, February 4th, at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $20 per student and are still available in the school office. This is a formal event – please check the student handbook for guidelines on dress. Girls who are attending must bring their dress (or a picture of themselves in their dress) to the school office for approval. Winter Court will be different this year than in years past due to the number of high school students. We will not be serving a “sit down dinner” but instead will offer an assortment of savory and sweet hor d’oeuvres and beverages in addition to the entertainment. High school students will not want to miss this exciting event!
Grammar school students will have a regular school day next Thursday, but grades 6-12 will be dismissed at noon. (Mrs. Miller may have other instructions for some students in grades 6-8.) The class schedule for Thursday the 4th is available HERE. Lunch will be available and after school care will be available. Friday, February 5th, will be a regular school day for Grammar school students, but grades 6-12 will have the day off.

WINTER WEATHER SCHOOL CLOSINGS

There is a Winter Storm Warning for the Tulsa area this week. Please remember to watch for Augustine Christian Academy to be announced as closed, but keep in mind that if Tulsa Public Schools are closed for winter weather, ACA will be closed as well. We are returning to this policy to reduce confusion. ACA will be listed on Channels 2, 6, 8, & 23 and announced on AM radio 740 KRMG and 1170 KFAQ if we are closed.

SINGING VALENTINES

Valentine’s Day is in just a few weeks and the ACA Valentine Singers have been practicing their songs. If you would like to surprise your special someone with a Singing Valentine, please turn in your order form and payment to the school office. Order forms are available HERE or in the office. Orders can be mailed, phoned in, or faxed. Payment must be made before delivery. The Singing Valentines are a fundraiser for the April performances of “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.”

“NUTCRACKER” DVD’S

YES, we have dvd’s of “The Nutcracker”! The dvd’s cost $20 and are now available in the office. To get your copy (or copies), stop in the school office this week. Please make checks payable to Kenneth Jones. Also, we have a limited supply of “Beauty & the Beast” dvd’s left from last spring and you can get one of those for only $10!

DATES FOR “SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS”

PLEASE NOTE: The dates of our spring musical are different than was previously published on the school calendar. “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers” will be performed April 16, 17, & 18 and April 23, 24, & 25.

FEBRUARY LUNCH ORDERS

Lunch order forms for the month of February are now available HERE and in the school office. If you are ordering lunches for the month, please turn in your order form and payment to the school office.

CALCULATORS NEEDED

Our Algebra I class is starting instruction in the use of the TI83 or TI84 calculators. We could use some “classroom calculators” to use for back-up. If you have one of these, or know of someone who has one, and you would like to donate it to ACA (or sell it at a low price), please bring it by the office or contact Mrs. Matthews at 918-521-2283 or email her at matthewsc@acatulsa.org.

NEW ATTENDANCE POLICY FOR SECONDARY STUDENTS

ACA understands that occasionally a student may have to miss class. We do our best through the use of yellow absentee slips and the test make up folder to help students make up work when they have had to miss. ACA is not, however, a correspondence school. Much of the value gained in a classical education comes from class discussion and the interaction among students and their teacher. Therefore, we want to encourage students to avoid unnecessary and excessive absences. For this reason we have made two changes in the school attendance policy that you can see HERE. These polices will be implemented immediately and will appear in the new student handbook for next year. Parents, please discuss this policy change with your secondary students so that everyone understands the new policies. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Post in the school office.

BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION, ETC.

We recently received a check for $51.12 from General Mills as part of their Box Tops for Education program. We appreciate your help in saving Box Tops and Campbells Labels for us. Also please remember ACA when purchasing office supplies at Office Depot as we participate in their 5% Back to Schools program. Our Office Depot ID number is: 70120398. Every little bit that we receive from these sources helps us buy supplies like copy paper, printer ink, dry erase markers, etc.
