THANK YOU!
A HUGE THANK YOU to all the parents on the banquet committee for putting together an awesome fund raiser banquet last Friday evening! The dinner, entertainment, speakers, and video were just outstanding! We appreciate the work the committee did to produce this great event. Also, a big thank you to all those who made donations at the banquet. We are still receiving some donations and pledges in the mail!
PORTRAIT RETAKE DAY
Just in case you missed it the first time… Yearbook Portrait Re-take Day is THIS Thursday, November 12th, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Also, if you purchased a portrait package and were not happy with the portraits, please return the entire package to have them redone on Re-take Day.
EXPLORE TEST
The EXPLORE test for all 8th graders and 9th graders new to ACA will be on Tuesday, November 17th. The test will begin promptly at 8:00 a.m. and there is no cost to ACA students. We use these test results for students who need the reading certificate for their drivers permit.
GRANDPARENTS DAY PROGRAM
ACA’s annual Grandparents Day will be held on Wednesday, November 25th, beginning at 9:30 a.m. with refreshments followed by the Grammar school’s Grandparents Day program. Classroom visits will take place after the program. Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and “grand-friends” are welcome to attend! School will be dismissed at noon that day for Thanksgiving Break.
DROP OFF AND PICK UP PROCEDURE
Many of our parents seem to have forgotten our student drop off and pick up procedures. (Don’t make me list your names!) Please DO NOT STOP IN THE DRIVEWAY to drop off or pick up your students. This blocks the driveway and causes traffic to back up onto 30th Street. Please pull into a parking space or drive around to the back of the building.
A FESTIVE CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION
An all-school Christmas program including carols, candlelight, recitations, drama, instrumentalists, and more presented by the talented students and parents of ACA will be held on Friday, December 4th, at Will Rogers United Methodist Church (11th and Yale). Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. All ACA students will be participating in the program and students should plan to be there right at 6:30 when the doors open. We will be asking for volunteers to bring cookies to this event. A special offering will be received to bless our teachers and staff at Christmas. Plan to come, worship, and enjoy the festivities, fellowship, and refreshments.
LAKEWOOD CARE CENTER CHRISTMAS GIFTS
This Christmas we are making cards, taking pictures of our students, and collecting donations for skid-resistant socks for each of the residents at Lakewood Care Center. Each House and Grammar class will be collecting donations for the gift distribution. On Tuesday, December 15th, our Grammar classes will be going to the care center to present a program and give out the gifts. Parents are welcome to go along. The glow on the residents’ faces when we hand out their gifts is just priceless. Thank you for helping with this ministry!
WHO DO YOU “GOODSEARCH” FOR?
In 2007, Goodsearch hit the internet and since then has grown like wildfire. If you look on the site you will see, that almost every Non-Profit organization you can think of has registered. We are registered too! It’s simple to use, and allows the organization of your choice (HOPEFULLY ACA!) to earn money, just by people using the search engine. Go to www.goodsearch.com and designate your charity - type in Augustine Christian Academy and click on “Verify”. You can even make it your home page so it is easy to use and if you use coupons printed from Goodsearch, ACA earns money from those too. Check it out!
