On November 3rd, we commemorated the tenth anniversary of St. Augustine Academy at our annual Celebration Gathering. The evening's speakers included alumi Jacob Zoller, class of 2004; Namie Bimba, class of 2005; Brinton Raines, class of 2006; and SAA's first graduate, who comprised the entire class of 1999, Greg Anderson (who spoke via a DVD sent from North Carolina). Mr. Matthew Dickerson, a new parent whose daughter is in this year's K-5 class, also shared, describing how he has seen his daughter challenged to excel and has become her coach and cheerleader.
A highlight of the evening was a new public relations video developed by Colleen Farish, class of 2002, and Kenneth Jones, class of 2007. Still a work in progress, this DVD will soon be available to those who desire to showcase SAA to friends, relatives, prospective donors, and new families interested in enrolling at SAA.
Another highlight was the unveiling of the new and improved web site. Andrew Johnson, class of 2002, developed the site and designed our new logo, debuted on a bumper sticker given to all who attended. (This sticker is available at the school office.) Andrew is our computer guru: he initially wired SAA's computer system and still keeps it up and running. He also designed the Gradenet system, which records and tracks all of our student's grades. We owe him our deepest thanks for all the hours he has contributed to the success of SAA.
Special thanks to Dr. Robson and the other musicians who performed a delightful piece from Dvorak. We at SAA also give a hearty thank you to all who attended, as well as all who participated.
We raised $24,400 in actual gifts and pledges towards our goal of $65,000 to enhance our budget and improve our programs at SAA. If you were unable to attend, we would ask you to consider investing in SAA. We can see the Lord's hand in our endeavors as students' lives are changed through the ministry of dedicated teachers and staff.
