TALENT SHOW DVD’S
Thank you to everyone who performed in and attended the Talent Show last Friday night! We have some amazingly talented young people at ACA! The juniors and seniors earned $655 toward their spring trip. Alumni Kenneth Jones is making available a DVD of the Talent Show for $15 each, and $5 of that will go toward the students’ trip. To order a DVD please stop by the school office or contact Kenneth directly at: kvjproductions@gmail.com. To see preview of the DVD, please go here: 2009 Talent Show Teaser.
CASTLE DISPLAY
The 7th grade history class made castles as a class project and they did an outstanding job! Their castles are currently on display in the school foyer – stop in and take a look at them!
PSAT TESTING
On Wednesday, October 14th, all of ACA’s 11th graders (full-time and part-time) will be taking the PSAT. There is no cost to our 11th graders. The test preparation booklets are now available in the school office. Students will need to report to school at 7:45 a.m. the morning of the PSAT.
GARAGE SALE
Tired of collecting clutter? Do you have stuff that you need to get rid of? We are here to help! The ACA juniors and seniors are hosting a HUGE Garage Sale on Friday, October 16 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Great Hall. This is a fundraiser for their spring trip to the Eastern Seaboard (Boston, Philadelphia, New York City, and Washington, DC) and we would love to have your stuff! You can bring your garage sale goodies (no clothing please!) to the school after 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 14 or on Thursday, October 15 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Please help by bringing in your items and by coming to “treasure hunt” on the day of the sale! Any items not sold will be donated to an area church for their fundraiser.
“NUTCRACKER” EMAIL LIST
If your student is in the production of “The Nutcracker” and you have not received any emails, please check your settings and make sure they allow mail from aspenson@cox.net. This is the address from which all “Nutcracker” emails will come. Emails will be the only means of communication that Mrs. Post and her crew will use. Please email Mrs. Aspenson or the school office to be added to the “Nutcracker” email list. Thank you!
SLAVE LABOR
Do you need some extra hands to get a project done? Need help cleaning out your garage or attic, or maybe raking leaves? The ACA juniors and seniors are willing to be your “slave” to help raise money for their spring trip to the Eastern Seaboard. If you are interested in securing one or even up to ten slaves, please contact Rhonda Morgan at morganfamily@sbcglobal.net or 492-5519. We have juniors and seniors that are willing to work for you!
TULSA STATE FAIR COUPONS
We have a limited number of Tulsa State Fair student discount coupons in the school office. They are available on a “first come, first serve” basis to ACA students. They can be used at the fair on Oct. 2 & 9 until 10:00 p.m. and on Oct. 5-8 until 6:00 p.m.
DIRECTORIES AVAILABLE
ACA school directories are now available in the school office. Each family gets one for free, additional copies are $2.00 each.
ILLNESS PROCEDURES
Parents: We would like to keep our students as healthy as possible. Please remind your students about the importance of hand washing and covering their mouths when coughing or sneezing. Remind them that they should not share food or beverages with their friends. If your student is sick, please keep them at home, especially if they are coughing, sneezing, throwing up, or have a fever. We will call and ask you to come to the school and pick up a student who is throwing up or has a fever. Students should be fever free for a minimum of 24 hours (without fever reducing medication) before returning to school.
PARTNERS IN PRAYER
Augustine Christian Academy, in order to accomplish all of its purposes, needs to be under girded in prayer. There are a group of us (a very small group at this time) who meet to pray for our teachers and staff, our students, our families, the finances, and the activities of this school. We know that many of you (hopefully all of you) pray at home for Augustine, but we would like to invite those who can, to join with us in corporate prayer. The prayer team meets in the lunch room area, on Thursdays from 12:45 - 1:30 prompt. We only pray for Augustine needs. If you need more information, call Lorraine Roderick at 760-7609. Feel free to come when you can if you are not able to come every Thursday.
PARKING LOT PROCEDURE
PARENTS: If you need to park and wait for your student after school, please pull into a parking space. Please do not park in the pick-up lanes or anyplace else where there are not marked parking spaces. After school pick-up has been going very smoothly, but occasionally we have a problem with parents blocking traffic as they wait for their student. We appreciate your help with this!
