Festive Christmas Celebration
On Friday evening, December 4th, the ACA “Family” gathered at Will Rogers United Methodist Church for a time of worship, carol singing, laughter, cookies, and surprises. The four Houses of the secondary students presented the “Living Book of James”. As each House and individual students recited verse after verse, the book did indeed come alive to the listening audience. The ACA Grammar school students presented a short play called “Three Wise Men & A Baby” narrated by Mr. Steve Beresh, ACA teacher, and Mr. Mike Rieck, ACA parent. The audience was surprised by the Chick-fil-A cow appearing in the stable wearing his “Eat mor chikin” shirt. But the Grammar students were prepared - the chickens held up a sign that read “Pork, the other white meat” and then the pigs displayed their own sign which said “Beef, it’s what’s for dinner”. The giant cow just shook his head and left. 5th grader Annie Wilsterman, playing the part of Mary, sang a beautiful song. 10th grader Stephen Good played “What Child is This?” on his violin, and ACA parents Mr. & Mrs. Chuck Stophel and Mrs. Lisa Isgrigg sang two acapella songs. The secondary Performing Arts class performed a very moving piece called “Light a Candle”, after which the auditorium lights dimmed and the audience did light one another’s candles as they sang “Silent Night”. An offering was taken to bless the ACA teachers and staff for Christmas and $4300 was received. The evening ended with cookies, cookies, and more cookies provided by parents and faculty.
