RECORD ENROLLMENT
Welcome to the 2008-2009 school year! Welcome new families! Our year is off to a great start with a record enrollment of 157 students. We have experienced a few “growing pains” as we have juggled classrooms, purchased new tables and chairs, and added books to accommodate our growing student population, but we are excited about this year and what the Lord will do here at ACA.
REJOICE WITH US
We are very thankful for donations that were given this summer, which allowed us to accomplish several projects. The floors in the hallways, one classroom, and the front entrance were done in stained concrete. The front entry, hallways, restrooms, and one classroom were painted. There is new baseboard in the computer lab, one classroom, and coming soon in the front entry and hallways. Carpet was repaired in the auditorium. The playground equipment was stained. We were able to purchase a floor scrubber, commercial refrigerator, and tables and chairs for the classrooms. Thank you to those who donated money and their time to help us complete these projects. We really appreciate those who joined us on the two work days in August to help us get the building ready for school to start!
CARPOOL MAP NOW ONLINE
Paper carpool maps were distributed the first week of school to each student. Hopefully they made it home! Now the ACA carpool map is available online at apps.acatulsa.org. A password is needed to access the map, so please call or e-mail the school office for the password.
FINAL FRIDAY SPIRIT WEAR DAY
This Friday is the final Friday in August and it will be Spirit Wear Day for everyone. No coupon is necessary. Be sure to check the Parent/Student Handbook for guidelines on what is acceptable Spirit Wear.
LABOR DAY
Next Monday, September 1st, is Labor Day and there are no classes at ACA.
SEPTEMBER LUNCH MENUS
Lunches begin next week! The lunch order form is available in the school office or you can download it here. Lunches can be ordered for the entire month by completing the order form and returning it with payment to the school office by Friday, August 29th. Lunches can also be ordered each morning at school during first hour. Part-time students are welcome to call in their lunch order before 9:00 a.m.
COME PRAY FOR ACA
Each Thursday at 12:45, beginning this Thursday, a group of parents will be meeting for a time of prayer for our school, teachers, and students. Please consider joining with these parents each Thursday as you are able. They will be meeting in room 206.
FOOTBALL
Five ACA students are playing football this year with the ETS team, the “Saints”. ETS did not have enough players to form a team and invited some of our high school boys to play with them. The ACA players are: Chris Asher, Adam Jones, Doug Landers, Griffin Schulz, and Caleb Weir. The Saints first game is against Rejoice Christian School on Friday, September 5th, at 7:30 at Niehuis Park. The park is located on N. 9th St. (Lynn Lane), north of the Broken Arrow Expressway, in Broken Arrow. Tickets will be sold at the gate. All ACA students and parents are invited to come and watch our students play!
BOOKS/CD’S NEEDED
The K4/K5 class has a new listening center which uses cd’s. Mrs. Schwenk is seeking donations of “follow along” books and cd sets for her students to use at the listening center. They have just a few and it has become a favorite activity for the students, so they would like to obtain more. If you have some book/cd sets that your children have outgrown, please consider bringing them to our kindergarteners.
ONGOING FUND RAISERS
There are several ways to help ACA raise funds during the school year. We participate in: Campbell’s Labels for Education, General Mills’ Boxtops for Education, Tyson’s Project A+, and Office Depot’s 5% Back to Schools programs. Bring your labels to the office as you collect them. When shopping at Office Depot, ask the cashier to credit our school (#70120398) with your purchases. Office Depot sends us a gift card with 5% of credited purchases each quarter. These programs are easy for each of our families to participate in, and they run all year long.
