Son of Adam is a new play which was written by last year’s Early American Literature class. Having studied the medieval morality play Everyman, the class was given the assignment of writing its own play following the same traditional poetic style. The class was split up into five groups overwhich five students were selected to lead. Each of these groups was given a scene to create, and then the chief writers collaborated to string the pieces together and write the final scene.

After the play’s initial completion, it was performed as a dramatic class reading. Though the project was completed, the chief writers continued to work together to improve upon their first writing, so that it might be performed the next school year. Mistakes were corrected, weak areas were strengthened, and a good deal of screenplay was developed. Now this new creation is being performed on stage for the first time. Directed by Davis Good, one of the play’s original authors, and starring a talented student cast, Son of Adam will be shown twice at the school’s American Literature Festival, once at 9:30 am and again at 12:45 pm.

We hope for you to come and see Son of Adam, the result of a huge amount of time and effort, now available to view for the first time!
