Miss Phillips’ third and fourth grade class has $1,000 to spend on their classroom thanks to Fox 23 and Dr. Robert Zoellner’s “One Class at a Time” program. John Slater, the Fox 23 meteorologist, and a representative from Dr. Zoellner’s office awarded the money to Miss Phillips and her class in a small ceremony. Footage of the event and an interview with Miss Phillips aired on Fox 23 that evening.

“One Class at a Time” awards one grant per month to a Green Country classroom to help supplement needs. The program chose ACA’s third and fourth grade classroom to receive this month’s grant after reading Miss Phillips’ submission. Miss Phillips, their teacher and the elementary principal, said that a flat screen TV and DVD player are on her wish list among other things.

Fox 23 and Dr. Robert Zoellner, a local optometrist, sponsor the program and have already awarded four other grants to local schools.
