During this first quarter in the school year, the Kindergarten class has been learning about community helpers in Social Studies. Social studies introduces children to a variety of topics in an appealing way. By learning about different community helpers, the children can see how God directs people’s lives. Community helper visuals are used to develop the students’ awareness of the many types of occupations that make up a community. To learn about community helpers in a more realistic way, the students visit them on the work site or in the classroom. A few of the occupations that the children have learned about are Mail Carriers, Firemen, Police Officers, Doctors, and the National Guard.
