Performing Arts Given $9,310 Grant to Attend Workshop in NYC

Gale Post, Director of Performing Arts

The ACA Performing Arts team has been given a considerable grant for an ambitious summer arts experience in New York City. The newly dubbed “Team Momentum” members — Gale Post, Dawn Redden, and Michelle Beeler — will spend six days exploring and researching the art culture and will attend the Broadway Teachers Workshop. Their goal is to cultivate, enhance, and expand ACA’s performing arts program.

This professional workshop is designed to inspire teachers and directors of theatre and arts with new teaching methods, enhanced production skills, and opportunities to exchange ideas and questions with their peers and with professional Broadway artists.

Two years ago, Mrs. Redden and Mrs. Post attended their first Broadway Teachers Workshop in New York City. After attending and realizing the high value of the experience, they promised each other that they would return every other year, no matter what the cost, because their students deserve the very best that they can offer.

The $9,310 grant was bestowed by Fund for Teachers, in conjunction with the Tulsa Community Foundation and the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence. Fund for Teachers is committed to celebrating teachers who are passionate about their work and motivated from within. Team Momentum will leave for New York City on July 8 and return July 15, 2012. Their expenses are completely paid for by the Fund for Teachers Grant. The Performing Arts Program has fundraising events planned to help Jamie Beeler raise money to assist with his expenses to attend the workshop as well.
