ACT WORKSHOP & PRACTICE ACT TEST
The Huntington Learning Center will be offering an ACT Workshop this Thursday evening, September 6th, at 6:30 p.m. at ACA. The workshop is for ACA 10th – 12th graders and their parents and is offered at no charge. Students attending the workshop will earn points for their House. Call the school office if you would like to attend.
On Saturday, September 15th, Huntington Learning Center will offer a “practice” ACT test to interested ACA students in grades 10 – 12. The test will be from 9:00 a.m. until noon in the Performing Arts Building. Students MUST sign up in the office by Thursday, Sept. 13th, so we can inform Huntington how to plan.
SPIRIT WEAR SHIRTS
We are taking orders for Spirit Wear t-shirts! Students can wear ACA t-shirts on designated Spirit Wear Days and when they have a Spirit Wear Coupon. PLEASE NOTE: T-shirts will not be incentives this year during the fall fundraiser. The shirts we are offering are available in Navy or Carolina blue and will have “Augustine Christian Academy” and “in Thy light, we see light. Ps. 36:9” on the front. ISRAEL TRIP MEETING
There will be a meeting for all those going on the spring 2013 Israel trip on Sunday, September 16th at 3:00 p.m. Anyone else who may be interested in learning more about the trip is welcome to attend! The trip is open to ACA juniors & seniors, parents, grandparents, and anyone else with a connection to ACA. Call Mrs. Mary Ehrlich at 918-622-9573 for more information.
FALL FUNDRAISER LETTERS
The secondary students will be having a Fundraiser Letter Party on September 12th during their House time. Elementary students will be doing their Letter Party on September 14th. Students should be sure to bring their address list! The school will supply the letters, envelopes, return envelopes, and stamps! Parents should send a note in if your student is sending emails instead of mailing letters, or include the school office email address ([email protected]) when sending your emails so we get a copy too. The vender we were hoping to work with on Tuesdays did not work out for us, so we have switched up our lunch days a bit. We have lunches available every day: Mondays & Thursdays will be Chick-fil-A, Tuesdays & Fridays will be CiCi’s Pizza, and Wednesdays will be Jimmy John’s. MOM’S PRAYER GROUP
Beginning Wednesday, September 12th, there will be a Mom’s Prayer Group meeting at 2:15 p.m. at the school to pray together for the needs of the school. The Prayer Group invites all ACA moms to join them beginning next week. At this time the afternoon group will be the only group meeting, but if there is interest we will attempt to start a morning group as well. If you cannot attend, but would like to join the email prayer list, send an email to: [email protected] and you will be contacted about the email list.
Last year we sent out a request from our library volunteer, Mrs. Spencer, for children’s books for our library. She says: “The response to our request for picture books, beginning readers and beginning chapter books for the library has been gratifying! We now have a wonderful collection of books for our youngest bibliophiles. This year’s goal is to expand our literary collection for the older students. We already have some library copies of the classics–watch future Charger Newsletters for a wish list of books still needed. Thanks again for supporting our library!”
Parent log-in information for Gradenet was mailed out last week. Parents have a separate Gradenet account from their students so they can view all of their students’ classes on the same account. One of our ACA moms, Gina Conroy, is interested in having other ACA moms join her for walking/jogging at La Fortune park on Tuesday and/or Thursday mornings after dropping students off at school. She says “meet at the north side of La Fortune in the parking lot near the park between 8:15 & 8:30 and walk/jog with friends while the weather is nice! TARGET, & OFFICE DEPOT
THANK YOU TARGET SHOPPERS! We received a check this week from Target for $404.58! If you use a Target credit card, you can designate 1% of your purchase amount to go to ACA with their “Take Charge of Education” program. They then send us a check every September. (Target’s Take Charge of Education program has us listed as St. Augustine Christian Academy) Office Depot has a 5% Back to Schools program. Just tell the cashier that you would like to give credit to our school as you are checking out. They will look up our school and credit us with 5% of your purchase; then we receive a gift card from Office Depot. These are easy ways to help ACA get needed items for our classrooms!
