JUNIOR HIGH TRIP

The Junior High trip to Nashville is this weekend, April 25 – 27th. Students must arrive at school at 7:10 a.m. on Friday! We need to be loaded up and pulling out at 7:30 a.m. There will be 36 students and chaperones traveling in three vans… please keep them in your prayers as they travel to Nashville and back. They will be visiting The Parthenon, Bi-Centennial Park, and Belle Meade Plantation in Nashville. PLEASE NOTE: There is no school for grades 6 – 8 on Monday, April 28th.

PABC MEETING & CAST PARENT APPRECIATION NIGHT

Our final Performing Arts Booster Club membership meeting for the year will be combined with our cast parent appreciation night. We are planning a lovely dessert buffet and anticipating some entertainment by our very own ACA students. Mark your calendars and plan to attend on Tuesday, April 29th at 7:00 p.m. in the ACA Great Room. (The location has been changed from the Performing Arts Building to the ACA Great Room.)

Attention “School House Rock” Parents: The cast will be performing a couple of songs at the PABC meeting. Cast members should wear the cast t-shirt, jeans, sneakers, and wear their hair the way they wore it in the play. They should report to the ACA Great Room at 5:45 p.m. to practice their songs. LITTLE THEATRE

“Ladies and Gentlemen… Welcome to 100 Years of Broadway”
Our last Little Theatre of the school year is on MAY 2, at 7:00 p.m. This is going to be a fabulous evening of Broadway music covering the past 100 years. This mini-musical features Show Choir, Vocal Express, and our 5th Grade Class. Tickets are $2 for Adults and $1 for Students/Children and are available at the door. Dinner and snacks will be available to purchase in our concessions stand which will open at 6:30 p.m. Mark the date on your calendar. Invite your family and friends for 2 hours of pure entertainment! Arrive early as we anticipate a sold out crowd! See you on Broadway!

MAY LUNCH MENU

The monthly lunch order form for May is attached below and is available in the school office. It includes May 5th – 13th. Students ordering for the month should turn in their order form and money by Friday, May 2nd.

TEACHER APPRECIATION

Our Augustine Christian Academy teachers and staff are the best! Teacher appreciation week is May 5 - 9. We plan to bless these dedicated men and women with treats all week! SECONDARY FINAL EXAMS

We are continuing the finals “Opt Out” program that has been so successful in the last few years, and we are simplifying finals for those taking them. Students who are to take finals will come on the days listed below to take their final exams in whatever order they wish. They can take a study break between them or go right from one to the other all in the same classroom. Final exams will be administered in three different classrooms monitored by three of our teachers. There will be a study hall area available in the Great Room, as well as a silent study hall upstairs. We ask that students sign in at the office window when they arrive and sign out whenever they leave. There are no other scheduled sessions for finals, so students must take their finals during the times presented.

How may a student “Opt Out” of a final exam?
A student may choose to skip a final exam if he/she meets the following three criteria:
1. Be absent no more than two times for the semester
2. Have no outstanding work
3. Have a semester grade average of 80% or better

In Gradenet, each class will have an assignment titled “Semester Final”. If your student has met the three criteria listed above, no later than Monday May 12th the assignment will have “EXC” marked for excused from the exam. If the assignment is blank your student is required to take the exam. Please call the office if you have any questions.

SUMMER THEATRE AT ACA

ATTENTION ACA STUDENTS GRADES 1-8 - Open Casting Call for Disney’s “The Jungle Book – Kids” Musical!
You are invited to go on an extraordinary musical adventure with Mowgli, a boy raised by wolves in the jungle. With the help of his friends — the bear Baloo, the panther Bagheera and the python Kaa — Mowgli is learning to survive as they teach him about “Jungle Law.” “The Jungle Book” is coming to the ACA Theatre June 9-13th. It will be directed by Gale Post and choreographed by Dawn Redden. Students currently enrolled in grades 1 - 8 may join the cast. This is a community theatre so students outside of ACA are welcomed to audition for the cast too. The cost of theatre camp (June 9-13, 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. with production of the musical at 7:00 p.m. on June 13) is $150, however, if you register (with payment) on or before May 2nd, the cost is only $100 per student. On May 3rd, registration goes back to $150. There is a MANDATORY Meet and Greet on Saturday, May 17, 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. for the cast, followed by a parent meeting from 11:00 a.m. - Noon. Every student that registers for “The Jungle Book” will be cast. The registration form is attached below and is also available in the school office. GRADUATIONS

At Augustine Christian Academy we celebrate several commencement ceremonies to mark milestones in the lives of our students. Here is the schedule of ceremonies for this year:

Kindergarten Graduation – Tuesday, May 13th, 10:00 a.m., ACA Great Room
Grammar School (5th Grade) Graduation – Tuesday, May 13th, 2:00 p.m., ACA Great Room
8th Grade Graduation – Thursday, May 15th, 7:00 p.m., ACA Great Room
Senior Graduation – Friday, May 16th, 7:00 p.m., Woodlake Assembly of God Church

NOTE: THE REFRIGERATOR IN THE GREAT ROOM IS COOLING AGAIN. THIS IS GOOD NEWS FOR THOSE WHO PACK THEIR LUNCH!
