CARRY THE LIGHT FUNDRAISER

A huge THANK YOU to all of the volunteers who helped with the Carry the Light fundraiser last Friday!  Over $28,000 has been donated so far, and donations are still arriving each day!  Our Grammar School students packed 75 shoeboxes for Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child and learned a lot about missions in other countries.  Our secondary Houses spent time cleaning, doing yard work, sorting cases of food, visiting with the elderly, etc. as they went out into the community for their day of service.

“THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE”  

Don’t forget to come out to our first Little Theatre of the season THIS FRIDAY, 7:00 p.m., in the ACA. Show Choir and Vocal Express have a great selection of music they have prepared for you. You will also be treated to an excerpt of music from our upcoming high school production of “Oklahoma!” and from the upcoming elementary musical “The Christmas Messiah” presented by grades 3 & 4.  Won’t have time for dinner?  The Booster Club will be selling Little Caesar’s cheddar pretzel pizza & three meat pizza, drinks, popcorn, and candy. The doors and concessions open at 6:30 pm. Entrance prices are : Adults $2, Students/Children $1 at the door only. Come early to get a seat, because seating is limited!  

Would you like two free admissions to this Friday’s Little Theater?  Just complete the PABC Platinum Level application on the  acatulsa.org Performing Arts page and pay for your membership in the office by this Thursday afternoon.  You’ll also receive:

PARENTS OF SENIORS MEETING

There will be a meeting for the parents for our senior class on Friday, Oct. 10, at 6:00 p.m.  Mr. Post will be distributing information concerning graduation, senior pictures, graduation announcements, caps & gowns, etc.  It is very important that at least one parent attend this meeting!  Mr. Post will dismiss you in time to attend the Little Theatre that evening.



PARENT / TEACHER CONFERENCES

On Wednesday, October 15th, our Grammar School students (grades K4 - 5th) will be getting out of school at noon due to the parent / teacher conferences during the afternoon.  They will not have lunch and after school care will not be available, so please make every effort to pick up your elementary student at noon.  Please note that grades 6 - 12 will have their normal class day until 3:30 including lunch and after school care beginning at 3:45.



SET WORK DAY FOR “OKLAHOMA!”

We need your help!  There will be a work day THIS SATURDAY, October 11th, which begins at 9:00 a.m. and runs until 2:00 p.m., building corn stalks (fun and easy), painting, and some light construction for the “Oklahoma!” set.  Cast parents (of both “Oklahoma!” and Disney’s “Peter Pan”) are required to work 20 hours during the school year, 25 if you have more than one student in performing arts, and this Saturday’s work day alone could take 5 hours off the top of that.  Parents, grandparents, Stagecraft students and other high school age students are more than welcome to come and help!



TICKETS FOR “OKLAHOMA!” ON SALE SOON!

Attention PABC members: Tickets for “Oklahoma!” will go on sale Monday, Oct 13th for members only.  Being able to purchase your tickets a week before they go on sale to the public is one of the benefits of belonging to the Booster Club.  BUT as thank you to Booster Club members  for supporting our first Little Theatre, we are offering you tickets  FRIDAY NIGHT following Little Theatre … two days earlier than the pre-sale!  So, bring your membership card…and your money on Friday night or one day next week to get your tickets!  Tickets for “Oklahoma!” will be available to non-PABC members beginning on Monday, October 20th.



PABC MEMBERSHIP MEETING

Please don’t miss our important Performing Arts Booster Club membership meeting this Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m., whether your students are in “Oklahoma!” or will be auditioning for “Peter Pan” this spring, or you just want to support the ACA Performing Arts program.

Our agenda for the General Membership Performing Arts Booster Club meeting will include:

* Questions concerning the new PABC bylaws

* Instructions on how to apply for PABC membership online

* A review of last year and this year’s PABC budget

* The chocolate bar fundraiser details

* How to get involved in the Valentine Store fundraiser

* This year’s calendar of performing arts events

* The nomination of new PABC board members (please be there to decline, if you are not interested)

* Hear about the exciting new purchase of wireless microphones

* How to get all your family’s required hours in - and why it matters if you don’t

* How to redeem Platinum membership level complimentary tickets

* What to expect at our May 1st elections and the Auggie Awards



GRAILBALL TOURNAMENT BEGINS!

Our annual Junior High level Grailball tournament begins next Tuesday at 11:00 with Dragon going up against Pegasus and Griffin battling Falcon!  What?  You haven’t heard of Grailball???  It’s an exciting and fast paced  game that’s played exclusively at ACA and was created several years ago by ACA alum Lauren Post.  Parents are invited to come and watch the games which are played on the small field at the back of the ACA parking lot (behind the Sherwin Williams building).  Watch The Charger Newsletter for the next few weeks to see which teams are playing on which days.  The high school tournament will take place in the spring.



PARENT PRAYER MINISTRY

We need you!  We need you join us to pray for just one hour a week, on Wednesday mornings, from 8:15-9:15.  We pray for our children, our school, and our families; so it is an opportunity to make one hour in your week have an eternal impact!  Please join us in the PAB on Wednesday morning at 8:15 every week, once a month, or even only a couple of times a year!  If you have any questions, call Carmen Applebaum at 918-720-9922.  See you there!
