“THANK YOU!”

A BIG THANK YOU to everyone who came to the Grammar School Christmas program last Friday.  Our young students charmed the audience with their performance of “The Messiah for Young Voices”!  Also, a BIG THANK YOU to Dawn Murphy-Williams and all of the wonderful parents, grandparents, & friends who helped make the Scholastic Book Fair a HUGE success last week.  We really appreciate our parent volunteers!

HOUSE COMPETITION

The four secondary Houses are having a competition to see which House can bring in the most gloves, mittens, hats, & scarves for the needy.  Donated items must be new or like new and must be turned in to the Houses by Monday, December 15th.  Both adult and children’s sizes are needed!  Grammar school families are welcome to donate also and can drop off their donation in the school office.

“SCHOOL HOUSE ROCK” DVD’S

DVD’s of the production of “School House Rock” from last April will be available beginning next week.  If you pre-paid for the dvd, it will be sent home with your student.  If you did not pre-pay, you will be able to  purchase a dvd in the school office.  The dvd costs $20.00.

JANUARY LUNCHES

The order form for January lunches is attached below.  Please note that the “House Special” on January 16 cannot be announced until we return to school in January and we find out which House won 2nd Quarter!  If you are ordering for the month, please turn in your order form and payment by December 19th, if possible.

SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS

ACA is in need of a few more substitute teachers that we can call from time to time as we have need.  Interested parents should contact Mrs. Cathey in the school office for more information.

FINAL EXAMS

First semester final exams for secondary students will be given on Thursday and Friday, December 18 & 19.  Students may take their exams on that Thursday between 8:00 a.m. & 3:00 p.m. and on that Friday between 8:00 a.m. and noon.  Students may come either day (or both) to take their exams.  They are not required to be at school the entire day, but only the time needed for them to take their exams.  Students should check with each of their teachers to see if they are required to take the exam for that class.  A student that has at least a B average in the class and has not missed more than 2 classes may choose not to take their final exam.  Lunch and after school care will be available on Thursday, Dec. 18; but on Friday, December 19th there will not be any lunch available and there will not be any after school care available.

GRAMMAR SCHOOL CHRISTMAS TALENT SHOW

The Grammar School Christmas Celebration talent show will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 19th.  Students wishing to participate in the talent show must sign up in the school office.  Singing, dancing, playing piano, and other talents are examples and all acts must have a Christmas theme.  Parents and friends are welcome to attend the talent show.

“PETER PAN” IS COMING!

ATTENTION ALL PARENTS OF STUDENTS IN GRADES 4 - 8:

The workshop for our spring Jr. High musical, Disney’s “Peter Pan”, is fast approaching.  ALL students grades 4 - 8 are encouraged to attend the complimentary workshop on January 10th in preparation of auditions.  The audition workshop will be 9:00 a.m. until noon with a parent meeting at noon.  Students do not need to have previous theatre experience to participate.  Keep watching the Charger Newsletter for more information to follow, but mark your calendar now.

NEEDED!

The Grammar School is collecting picture frames for an art display.  If you have any frames you are willing to part with (glass not needed), please bring them to the school office.  We need all shapes and sizes, but we are especially interested in larger sizes, oval, and unusual frames.  We do not need the back or the glass, just the frame.  We are going to paint them, so we’ll take any frame in any condition.  Thanks so much!
