WINTER COURT

Winter Court is the annual formal banquet for ACA high school students. It is designed to celebrate being part of the Kingdom of Christ and our unique relationship with each other as brothers and sisters in the Lord.  The traditions of our Winter Court event are designed to remind us of our position in grace, in a setting reminiscent of times past.

This year Winter Court will be held on Friday, January 30th, beginning at 6:00 p.m.  It will be in a new location – the Tulsa Event Center, 2625 S. Memorial Drive, Tulsa.  All ACA high school students are encouraged to attend!  Tickets for Winter Court are on sale now and cost $35 each, through January 28th.  Tickets will not be available after January 28th.

ACA students are allowed to bring a date from another school provided that their date is willing to respect the purpose and standards of this formal evening and dress according to the code listed below.  Dates from another school must have their parents sign a consent form (attached below).

WINTER COURT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

We are looking for some parent volunteers for our Winter Court event on January 30th.

We need about 5 parents for set up from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm.

We need about 12-15 parents for “clean up” from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm.

We need about 10 parents for “breakdown” from 9:30 pm until it is done.

If you and/or your spouse can volunteer for one or more of these time slots, please contact Mrs. Cathey in the school office or by email at: [email protected]

ELECTRICAL HELP NEEDED

Do you have an “Electric Personality?”

PSO has approved ACA for a large rebate if we convert our lighting over to High Efficiency ballasts and bulbs. The materials are in and the process is now under way. To maximize our financial benefit, we are keeping the installation labor in-house. If you are adept at working with simple wiring or are willing to learn how to change a ballast, please contact Mr. Ahrens at [email protected]   This is an ongoing, daily project, so you are welcome to schedule a time to assist on any day. We would like to schedule a work day this Saturday, January 24th from 9:00 a.m. until noon if we can get enough participants. Let us know if you can assist.

VALENTINES DAY

Say “I LOVE YOU” with a song!

The ACA Ladies Show Choir will be offering Singing Valentines again this year. They will be serenading their valentines on Friday, February, 13th this year. The only “bad luck” you will need to worry about is not ordering your singing valentine before all the slots are filled up. Singing Valentines will go on sale NEXT WEDNESDAY and we will continue taking orders through February 12th or until all available slots are filled. We also offer singing valentines via telephone. Look for order blanks and more information in next week’s Charger.  For more information call Gale Post at 918-852-2040.

WINTER WEATHER POLICY

The Inclement Weather/Snow Day policy we will adopt for the season is as follows: ACA will be focused on the ability of our families to safely navigate the roads and our parking lot.  ACA will remain openunless specifically noted on the school closings list on Channels 2, 6 and 23 and their websites. We will close the school when warranted if snow or ice would cause unsafe traveling conditions for our families. Low temperatures alone may not result in our closing the school. We recognize that this is a deviation from years past when we were tied specifically to the Tulsa Public Schools winter weather closing decisions.

We know that we will not be able to please everyone when these hard decisions need to be made and we appreciate your understanding.  Because snow & ice accumulation often differs north of Tulsa & south of Tulsa, if you have a student driver, please use your own discretion as to whether or not you feel they should be out on the roads.

“OKLAHOMA!” DVD’S

The dvd’s of the fall performance of “Oklahoma!” should be ready the first week of February.  If you would like to order one or more of these dvd’s, please contact the school office.  We need to know how many dvd’s to produce!  They will cost $20 each.  Those who pre-order and pre-pay will receive their dvd’s first!

SALT & LIGHT CHAPEL

Monday, January 26th, will be a Salt & Light Chapel and students are required to wear their High Convocation Uniforms.  Our special speaker will be Billy Wiland, a former student of Mr. Post from his pre-ACA days.  The secondary class schedule will be adjusted to allow our speaker more time - please see the adjusted schedule attached below.

“SCHOOL HOUSE ROCK” DVD’S

DVD’s of the ACA production of “School House Rock” are now available for purchase in the school office.  The dvd costs $20.00 and checks should be made payable to Kenneth Jones.

Have questions?  Please call ACA at 918-832-4600
