SALT & LIGHT CHAPEL
On Monday, March 28th, we are honored to welcome Dr. William Ranahan II as our guest for this month’s Salt & Light secondary chapel. Dr. Ranahan is a researcher and microbiologist who teaches Biology and Genetics at Oral Roberts University. During Dr. Ranahan’s doctoral studies, his research led to the unlocking of new cancer targets for treatment of multiple forms of cancer, especially targeting breast cancer. His life work is devoted to uncovering the fingerprints of God and sharing these findings with his students. His topic, in our first “guest lecturer” spotlight, is on the intricacies of how our minds are wired and how we can actually work to rewire or renew our minds. Parents, please feel free to join us if you can. You will be very glad you did. Chapel will be held from 9:10 a.m. to 10:10 a.m. There will be a 15-20 minute question and answer time following his presentation. Secondary students must wear their High Convocation uniform. The class schedule will be adjusted a bit to allow the extra time for chapel. You will find that adjusted schedule attached below.
EARLY RELEASE DAY APRIL 1ST
Some of you are saying “Is this some kind of April Fools Day joke?” Actually, this is no joke. ACA will be closing our offices for the day and releasing all students at noon on Friday, April 1st. We will not be providing lunch or after school care on this day, so please make arrangements to pick-up your children accordingly. All students will need to be picked up between 12:00 and 12:15. We thank you in advance for your cooperation and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR
Our annual Scholastic Book Fair will be held NEXT WEEK, and we NEED several volunteers to help make it a successful book fair. Please see the volunteer form attached below for more information about when volunteers are needed. If you would be able to volunteer for a shift or two, please turn that form in at the school office by tomorrow afternoon. The book fair will be open from 7:30 - 4:00 next Monday & Wednesday, 7:30 - 3:30 next Tuesday & Thursday, and 7:30 - noon next Friday. Tuesday morning from 7:30 - 8:00 will be “Donuts for Dad” for dads who visit the book fair. Then on Wednesday morning from 7:30 - 8:00 we’ll have “Muffins for Mom” for all moms who visit the book fair.
GRAMMAR SCHOOL GRANDPARENTS DAY CELEBRATION
On Friday, April 1st, we are inviting grandparents to spend time in the classroom with their grandchild in grade K4 - 5th! To facilitate all of our grandparents, we are hosting this day in two shifts!
For K4 - 2nd grade: Our day will begin for grandparents of our K4 - 2nd graders at 8:00 a.m. with a wonderful breakfast provided for grandparents and their grandchild. Then grandparents can discover what their grandchild has been busy learning and creating this year as they tour the classrooms. While they are here, they won’t want to forget to stop by the Photobooth to capture their day on film! We will be wrapping up the day and dismissing grandparents at around 10:15 a.m. We have a wonderful day planned for our grandparents and would love to see them here. Please RSVP for your child’s grandparents to the office or your child’s teacher.
For 3rd - 5th grade: Our day begins for grandparents of our 3rd - 5th graders at 9:45 a.m. for a time of discovering what their grandchild has been busy learning and creating this year as they tour the classrooms. Then a delicious lunch will be provided for grandparents and their grandchild. While here, they won’t want to forget to stop by the Photobooth to capture their day on film! We will be wrapping up our school day at 12:00 p.m. We have a wonderful day planned for our grandparents and would love to see them here. Re-enrollment packets were mailed out to current families during spring break. If you did not receive your packet, please contact the school office as soon as possible. We are beginning to accept new students, so you need to turn in your enrollment contract to hold your student’s place in their grade. Please contact the school office if you have any questions.
SNACK MACHINES & FRECKLES ON THURSDAY
The young men who keep our snack machines filled have been on the East Coast Trip, so our machines are pretty empty. They won’t be back to refill the machines until next week, probably Tuesday or Wednesday, so if your student relies on the machines for snacks or part of their lunches, please make other arrangements until then. Also, since we don’t have school this Friday and we will dismiss at noon next Friday, we will be offering Freckles Frozen Custard at lunch time on Thursday this week and next. If your student had prepaid for custard for these two Fridays, they will get their custard on Thursdays. Prepaid pizza will be credited to the student’s lunch ledger.
APRIL LUNCH ORDER FORMS
The monthly lunch order form is attached below and is also available in the school office. If ordering for the month, order forms and payment are due by April 1st. Students may also still order each morning at the office window or in their first hour classroom.
2017 ACA ISRAEL TRIP
The next ACA Israel Trip is scheduled for March, 2017. This trip is open to our current 10th & 11th graders (11th & 12th next year), ACA families, alumni, teachers, and friends of ACA. If you are interested in joining this tour of Israel (or know someone who might be interested), please contact Mrs. Rhonda Morgan at: [email protected] or 918-638-7799 for more information, or sign up in the school office. Signing up just indicates your interest and that you want more information. It is not a commitment to the trip. We will be having an informational meeting on April 5th at 6:30 in the ACA Great Room. Come to the meeting and get your questions answered! A $300 deposit will be due April 15 to join the trip.

SPIRIT WEAR WEEK
The ACA Band is having a Spirit Wear week to help raise money for our contest trip at the end of April. Spirit Wear Week will be April 4th - 8th. The cost is $10 for full time students and $5 for part time students. Wristbands will be given out and will need to worn the whole week. Students must purchase their wristbands next week from Mrs. Orcutt in room 101.
CHOCOLATE BAR SALES
All money from chocolate bar sales should have been turned in at the school office by the March 11th due date. If you have not yet turned in your money, please do so by next Monday, March 28th! Thank you for your help with this!
EIGHTH GRADE TRIP
The trip itinerary and permission slips for the upcoming 8th grade trip have been sent home with students and is attached below. The permission slips are due back in the school office by Friday, April 1 with a $50 deposit. The balance is due by April 28th. SPRING PICTURE DAY
The yearbook staff is sponsoring Spring Picture Day on Friday, April 8th. Students may wear their choice of clothing for their spring picture, but must be in uniform except when getting their picture taken. There will be a choice of backgrounds using “green screen” technology. However, due to the green screen - students should NOT wear green clothing! Proofs will be delivered to the school and parents can order portraits from the photographer’s web site if they like the proofs.
CAMPBELLS LABELS FOR EDUCATION
Campbells is making a change and after this school year they will be discontinuing their Labels for Education program. For ACA that means that we have one more chance to turn in labels for credit toward classroom supplies! If you have been saving Campbells labels, please bring those to the school office by March 31st so we can get them turned in to Campbells before the end of the school year.
