DISNEY’S “BEAUTY AND THE BEAST”

Tickets are selling fast!  Do you have your tickets yet?  Invite your family and friends while tickets are still available.  Ticket prices are $10 per adult and $7 for children/students .  

Five Performances -

Thursday, Nov. 10 at 7:00 p.m.

Friday, Nov. 11 at 7:00 p.m.

Saturday, Nov. 12 at 2:00 & 7:00 p.m.

Sunday, Nov. 13 at 3:00 p.m.

Tickets WILL sell out so get them while we still have them because when they are gone…they are gone. Also, NO ticket refunds. We will do ticket exchanges for another performance, as long as we still have the tickets available to exchange.  Tickets may be purchased through the school office 8:00 a.m to 5:00 p.m. Monday - Friday.

 
 

GREAT BOWLS OF FIRE! SENIOR CHILI NIGHT & DESSERT AUCTION

The Senior’s annual Chili Night & Dessert Auction will take place THIS  Friday evening, October 28th at 6:00 p.m.  Only $5 for a bowl of chili & a drink, or $7 for an “endless” bowl of chili & a drink.  Add on a baked potato or spaghetti noodles for only $1 more.  Chili fixin’s are included (cheese, fritos, crackers, sour cream).  The Class of 2017 will be making the desserts for the dessert auction which will begin at about 7:30. There are more than 10 entries in the chili cook-off, so plan to come and enjoy some delicious chili and desserts!

 

NEW FRIDAY OPTIONAL CLASSES

It’s not too late to register your secondary student for one of our two new Friday afternoon options.  We have extended the registration deadline until tomorrow afternoon because of Fall Break.  The enrollment forms are attached below.

Mixed Martial Arts and Self Defense

Time: 1:15 – 3:15 – ACA Great Room  (Balance of the School Year)

Instructor: Myles Martin (Graduate, University of Oklahoma, Holds 5 black belts in various martial arts, parent of three ACA students)

Ages:  7th - 12th  Grade

Requirements:  Student must be physically able to handle the demands of the course, not be on academic probation, and able to purchase appropriate clothing for the class (approximately $35)

Cost:  Full-Time ACA Student - $10/Week and Part-Time ACA Student - $15/Week

 

The Etiquette School of Tulsa County

Instructor: Mrs. Carla Woolridge (Graduate of The American School of Protocol, Atlanta, Georgia; Founder of The Etiquette School of Brazoria County; Parent of two ACA Students)

Fall Session – Secondary Etiquette Course

Time:  1:15 – 3:15   Second Quarter (October 28 – December 16)

Location: PAB 1

Ages: 6th – 12th Grade

Requirements:  Students must commit to finish the course and be tested. Students may not be on academic probation.

Cost:  Full-time ACA Students - $120 and Part-time ACA Students - $150

 
 
 

NOVEMBER LUNCH ORDER FORMS

Monthly lunch order forms for November are now available in the school office and are attached below.  If you are ordering for the month of November, please return your order form and payment to the school office by Friday, Oct. 28th.

 
 

SPIRIT WEAR DAY

This Friday, October 28, is the final Friday in October and will be a Spirit Wear Day for everyone - no coupons necessary!

 
 

ATTENTION “BEAUTY & THE BEAST” CAST PARENTS!

PARENT OPPORTUNITY:  We have lots of sponge painting to do. Mr. Pirtle and his class will be working all afternoon THIS FRIDAY. IF you can come out to help (and have volunteer hours still to do), please come. We need the help. If you have time on Saturday, Oct 29th, there are benches that need to be painted. If you are interested in doing this project, please contact Mr. Post or the school office prior to Saturday.

TUESDAY/THURSDAY REHEARSALS:  Parents, please remember that Tuesday and Thursday rehearsals END at 6:00 pm. All cast are required to attend.  If your child is NOT picked up by 6:15, you will be charged $5 per every 5 minutes late.  If you are in bad traffic, please call or text Mrs. Post at 918-852-2040 .

SATURDAY REHEARSALS:  Rehearsals on Oct. 29 & Nov. 5 are in the Great Room and are mandatory for ALL CAST unless previous arrangements have been made with the Director. We begin at 9:00 am (not 9:30 or whenever you can get there) and end at 5:00 pm (not 5:30 or 6:00 pm). Cast members are to bring a lunch, snacks, HOMEWORK, and a drink. We will be running the show but there is time for most students to work on homework in between their call times. Students should NOT use the musical as an excuse to NOT have their homework done!

TECH REHEARSALS / DRESS REHEARSALS: Saturday, Nov. 5th (9:00 am – 5:00 pm),  Monday, Nov. 7, and Tuesday, Nov. 8th, 3:30 – 10:00 pm Hopefully we will not need all this time, but the time allows for putting on costumes, doing hair & make-up, a short dinner break, cast photos on Tuesday, and putting away all props, costumes, and cleaning up the holding rooms.

MAKE-UP LIST & TIGHTS LIST FOR ALL CAST:  Please log onto Gradenet and look for this form in the class Beauty and the Beast. It will be in the 2nd Quarter assignments.  ALL CAST needs to purchase CREAM OR IVORY TIGHTS (at least 2 pairs) as well as the required make-up as listed on the form. These items are due on or before Nov. 5th.

SPECIAL NOTE TO CAST PARENTS: Late rehearsals and performances on a school night is not a “get out of school free card”. Students still need to be at school the next day… and keep up with classwork. Homework will be minimal during tech/show week to allow for the musical, but classwork is still required. We expect our cast to be professional. Any missed school time after a rehearsal or performance is considered a regular absence - it is not an excused absence.

 
 
 

SALT & LIGHT SECONDARY CHAPEL

Our guest this month for our Salt & Light Chapel Series will be Madeline Manning-Mims. Madeline is an Olympic gold medalist and world-class middle distance runner who holds the US and Olympic record for the 800 Meter race. Madeline is a member of the USA Track & Field Hall of Fame and served as Olympic Chaplain for Team USA at the games this past summer in Rio. Come join us and our very special guest for this month’s Salt & Light chapel, Monday October 31st at 9:05 a.m.  Parents, alumni and guests are welcome to attend.  Students must wear their High Convocation uniform on Monday!  To allow our guest plenty of time, our secondary class schedule will be adjusted - you will find the adjusted class schedule attached below.

 
 

YEARBOOK PURCHASE INFORMATION

Parents: you need to order yearbooks this year!  (if you don’t order one, you won’t have one)

Order as many as you like! (one for each student, or one per family – it’s your choice)  The yearbook will be delivered and distributed in May this year!

Did you miss the deadline to get 15% off in September?  Good news!  If you order in October, you will get 10% off the cost of your yearbook!

Would you like to honor your graduating senior or another special student with an ad in the yearbook?  There are only two pages available for ads, so don’t delay!  A quarter page ad is $50 and an eighth page ad is $25.  Contact Mrs. Ellis at [email protected] and let her know you would like to place an ad and she will have a yearbook staff member contact you about the look & content of your ad.  The deadline for ad submissions is Friday, November 18th! ONGOING FUNDRAISERS

ACA participates in a few fundraisers that are easy to participate in and they go throughout the year!  

Office Depot has their 5% Back to Schools Program and will send us a gift card each quarter based upon how many customers credit their purchases to ACA.  When making a purchase, just tell them that you want our school to get credit.  Our school number is: 70120398 (which you can put in your phone and have it with you!) or the store can look us up.  We are listed by our corporate name - St. Augustine Academy, Inc.

Boxtops for Education are found on many products that we all purchase every week and those little coupons are worth cash to our school.  Please make it a habit to cut out or tear off those Boxtops and bring them to the school office.  

If you regularly shop online at Amazon, you can support our school by joining Amazon Smile!  Just go to https://smile.amazon.com and sign up to support Augustine Christian Academy.  Then when you shop Amazon, sign in on the smile.amazon.com page and a percentage of your purchase will be sent to ACA.  It’s really easy to support ACA and you still get those great Amazon prices!
