“WILLY WONKA” AUDITION WORKSHOP RE-SCHEDULED

The spring musical for our Junior Performing Arts Company will be “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory”.  The audition workshop was originally schedule for this Saturday morning, but with an ice storm in the weather forecast, the workshop has been rescheduled to Tuesday, January 17, 3:30 - 7:00 p.m.  Mrs. Post will meet with parents at 7:00 p.m.  At least one parent must attend this meeting or your student cannot audition for the play.  All ACA students in grades 4 - 8 are encouraged to come to the workshop!  Please see the registration/information sheet attached below for more information.

NEW DATE FOR GRAMMAR SCHOOL PARENT MEETING

The Grammar School Parent Meeting that was scheduled for this Friday evening has been rescheduled to Tuesday, January 17, due to the forecast of an ice storm coming in Friday.  Mr. Post will meet with parents beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Great Room followed by classroom meetings with the teachers.  (Parents of 4th & 5th graders who need to meet with Mrs. Post following the “Willy Wonka” workshop, will be dismissed to that meeting and can return to meet with their child’s teacher.)

2018 EAST COAST TRIP MEETING

On Tuesday evening, January 17th, parents of 10th & 11th graders are invited to an informational meeting about the Spring 2018 East Coast Trip.  Students and chaperones will travel to Boston, New York City, Washington D.C., etc. to discover the history that happened on our nation’s east coast.  Parents will meet in room 209 at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening to get all of the information on cost, itinerary, etc.

THANK YOU

The Class of 2018 would like to thank everyone who came out to their Skate Night fundraiser!  We had 98 people there and the class earned $240!  The donut parties for most paid attendance will go to the 1st Graders and to Pegasus House.  Thanks so much for your support!

WINTER COURT

Winter Court is the annual formal banquet for ACA high school students. It is designed to celebrate being part of the Kingdom of Christ and our unique relationship with each other as brothers and sisters in the Lord. A King and Queen will be crowned and seniors who choose to will be inducted into the New Order of Augustine alumni organization.

This year Winter Court will be held on Friday, January 20, 2017, beginning at 6:00 p.m.  It will be in a new location – the Tulsa Country Club, 701 N. Union Ave. in Tulsa.  All ACA high school students are encouraged to attend!

Tickets for Winter Court are now on sale and cost $42 each.  Tickets will not be available after January 13th.

ACA students are allowed to bring a date from another school provided that their date is willing to respect the purpose and standards of this formal evening and dress according to the dress code below.  Dates from another school must have their parents sign a consent form (available in the school office).

WINTER COURT DRESS CODE:

1. All dresses must be tea or floor length

2. All dresses must have a modest neckline. That is, it must be no lower than mid-back and reveal no cleavage in the front.

3. Any dress slits must go no higher than the knee

4. Gentlemen must wear tuxedos, dark suits, or coats, dress slacks, and ties.

All young ladies must have their dresses approved. TRIVIA NIGHT FUNDRAISER

It’s Spring Fundraiser time again! Our annual spring fundraiser is fast approaching and we are in need of your assistance. Each year, in addition to fun trivia, we have had a lot of exciting silent and live auction items donated to our cause. Disney World has once again provided 4 Park Hopper passes for our event, and we want to see what clever ideas you may have. In the past, donations have included PAC tickets to Wicked, time-share vacations, automotive detailing (“pampering”), music and dance lessons, restaurant gift cards, original artwork, and much, much more. If you or anyone you know would be willing to donate an item or service, please contact John Ahrens at [email protected] .  It is a great way to promote a business and a wonderful way to support ACA!

More details will follow, but as a teaser: this year’s Trivia Night event will be held at the Tulsa Country Club and dinner will be provided!  So, mark your calendar for Saturday, February 25th at 6:30 p.m. and don’t forget to choose a table theme. It will prove to be an evening of fun and great ACA entertainment.

IT’S NOT TOO LATE TO PURCHASE A YEARBOOK!

Maybe you totally forgot?  Or maybe you just haven’t made the time to do it yet?  Whatever your reason for not ordering your student’s yearbook yet… it’s not too late!  Simply go to: https://www.treering.com/ and click on “Buy Yearbook” in the upper right hand corner of the page.  Then just follow a few simple steps and BOOM! - you’ll be done and can check that off of your “to do list”.  Order a yearbook for each of your students, or just one for your family, but your students will want to have the yearbook to look at in the coming years.  You cannot order at school, so go to: https://www.treering.com/  and get your book ordered before the final order deadline.  Yearbooks will be distributed in May, 2017.

BOXTOPS FOR EDUCATION

Thanks so much for saving your Boxtops for ACA!  Last week we received a check from General Mills for $306.90 which helps us purchase copy paper, dry erase markers, etc.  Keep saving your Boxtops!  Grammar school parents, watch your student’s backpack for a Boxtops savings sheet!

WINTER WEATHER!

When winter weather hits the Tulsa area, ACA will announce closings on Channels 2, 6, & 8, and we will send an email blast.  We will also send out a message through SchoolWay which can come directly to your phone!  If you haven’t yet downloaded the SchoolWay app, please see the attachment below for more information about how to get it for your phone.
