If you missed it on Tuesday evening, you need to be here this evening! We will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Great Room. We will be going over lots of information pertaining to the coming school year, so parents should make every effort to attend. Students are not required to attend the Parent Orientation since they will have their own orientation the first day of school.
FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL
The first day of school will be Monday, August 13th. This will be a half day, 8:00 a.m. to noon. Students should wear regular uniforms, not High Convocation uniforms. (Due to high temperatures, High Convocation uniforms will not be required until the Monday after Labor Day.) Elementary classes will go over classroom rules, distribute books, and play some “get acquainted” games. For secondary students, basic school rules will be discussed, teachers introduced, Houses will meet together, planners will be distributed, lockers will be assigned, and yearbooks from last year will be distributed (to those who ordered one). After school care will not be available the first day of school. Student Orientation Day is for ALL students, full time and part time. NOTE: If you have ordered new polo shirts from C & J Uniforms, and they are not in prior to August 13th, plan to wear a plain white or navy t-shirt or a plain shirt with a collar.
PERFORMING ARTS NEWS
Calling all ACA high school students! The audition workshop for the fall production of Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas” will be held after school on Friday, August 17th, from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Auditions will be held on August 19th & 20th after school. ALL high school students are welcome to participate in this production! We will also need set builders & painters, stage crew, and sound & lighting techs for the production; so if your student doesn’t want to be “on stage” there are still several ways to be involved! THERE WILL BE A PARENT MEETING SATURDAY, AUGUST 19, IN THE ACA GREAT ROOM. Breakfast will be provided by the Performing Arts Booster Club.
NEW LIFE RANCH
August 23rd – 24th. It is very important for every student in grades 6 – 12, full time & part time, to attend Charger Round Table. This event builds community among the students and sets the tone for the school year. The cost this year will remain at $90 per student, which covers transportation, overnight lodging, four meals, and activities. Permission slips will be available at Parent Orientation and on the first day of school.
When you are out shopping for school supplies for your students, please consider picking up a package of copy paper, some dry erase markers, and a box of tissues for the school office. These are the items we continually use during the school year and your donation of some of these would be a tremendous help to us.
