Letters and emails are still being sent out and we are already seeing donations coming in as people are sponsoring ACA students for the Serve-a-thon & the Wheel-a-thon taking place on Friday, October 5th. As of this morning $6700 has been raised toward our goal of $50,000. This is a great start! We are hoping for 100% participation so if your family has not yet sent out letters or emails, there is still time! Call the school office if you have any questions or need supplies.
PSAT FOR JUNIORS
ACA requires all of our 11th graders to take the PSAT. The PSAT is the qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship. This test will be given on Wednesday, October 17th, beginning at 8:00 a.m. ALL 11th graders should plan to be here at that time, including part-time students who are not normally here at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesdays. The preparation booklets for the test are now available in the school office!
MOM’S PRAYER GROUP
The Mom’s Prayer Groups began meeting today! There are two groups, one in the morning at 8:15 a.m and one at 2:15 p.m. that meet at the school to pray together for the needs of the school. The Prayer Groups invite all ACA moms to join them. If you cannot attend, but would like to join the email prayer list, send an email to: [email protected] and you will be contacted about the email list.
If your student is a sophomore, junior or senior this school year, and you have not turned in a “Diploma Track Commitment Form” signed by you AND your student, please stop by the office or send your student to pick up the form. These commitment forms need to be turned in to Mr. Post ASAP. The four diploma options are detailed in the attachment below.
OCTOBER LUNCH MENUS
The monthly lunch menu for October is attached below or one may be picked up in the school office. Please note that there is a second page for the 5th week! Students may still order each morning if you wish – this monthly menu form is for your convenience.
PARENTS OF SENIORS
There will be a meeting for parents of seniors on Friday, October 12, at 6:00 p.m. in the Performing Arts Building. Information will be distributed concerning yearbooks, graduation, Senior Skip Day, senior pictures, etc. At least one parent MUST attend!
Our first Little Theater of the 2012-2013 year will be held on Friday, October 12, at 7:00 p.m. in the Great Room. “These Magic Moments” will feature music from the Big Screen and Broadway with our Show Choir and Vocal Express. We will also have student artwork on display. Plan to attend!
ACA graduates must pass the Rhetoric English Mastery Exam (REME) with an 80% or better, or take the high school level Rhetoric Grammar class. The cost of the test is $50 and your student may take the test up to three times for your $50 (after three times students must sign up for the class or pay another $50 to keep attempting the test). It will be offered again in the spring and next summer. Students in 10th – 12th grade wishing to take the REME must sign up in the school office and may pick up a book to review for the test. Please call the office if you have questions about the REME.
