Last Friday was a GREAT day! If you get a chance, ask our secondary students about their time serving in our community, and ask our elementary students about their Wheel-a-thon. As of 10/9/12 $32,459 has been raised toward our goal of $50,000. There is still time for people to make donations! Donations can be made through the end of the month! Students should follow up with those to whom they sent letters or emails. Special thanks to the parent volunteers and the House sponsors who made our Fundraiser Day possible! We appreciate each one of you!
THE NIFTY 50’S DINER DINNER
This Friday, October 12, from 5:00-6:30 PM, a 50’s-style Diner dinner will be served in the Performing Arts Building. You MUST buy a dinner ticket in advance to reserve your dinner! You can choose two baskets: $8 - Burger Basket (Grilled Hamburger or Cheeseburger with all the trimmings, Chips, Slice of Pie, Cherry Limeade OR Root Beer) or $6 Hot Dog Basket (Hot dog with all the trimmings, Chips, Slice of Pie, Cherry Limeade OR Root Beer). Families purchasing six or more meals may have a $1 discount per meal.
To get your reservation tickets for dinner, stop by the school office or purchase them from a Show Choir member. You may also send your ticket order, and a check or cash, in an envelope with your child to the school office. Dinner tickets must be purchased in advance and the last day to get your dinner tickets is tomorrow, October 11.
After dinner, join us for a great evening of music and entertainment at our first Little Theatre of the season: These Magic Moments. Enjoy music from Show Choir, Vocal Express, and a special preview of music from our upcoming ACA production “White Christmas”. Please come support our Performing Arts Program.
PARENTS OF SENIORS
There will be a meeting for parents of seniors on Friday, October 12, at 6:00 p.m. in the Performing Arts Building classroom. Information will be distributed concerning yearbooks, graduation, Senior Skip Day, senior pictures, etc. At least one parent MUST attend!
Our first Little Theater of the 2012-2013 year will be held on Friday, October 12, at 7:00 p.m. in the Great Room. “These Magic Moments” will feature music from the Big Screen and Broadway with our Show Choir and Vocal Express. We will also have student artwork on display from the Junior High and Elementary art classes. Plan to attend! Buy tickets at the door: adults $2.00 and students $1.00. Remember that seating is limited!
“WHITE CHRISTMAS” SPONSORSHIPS
The performance program is THE WAY to get your business name in the hands of the hundreds of people who will attend the five performances of “White Christmas” at ACA this December 6 – 9th. Be THE corporate sponsor for all 5 performances for $5000 or sponsor one performance for $1000. Your company name will be listed on the back of the cast t-shirts and will be listed as an official corporate sponsor in the show program as well as on all printed materials for the production.

ACA graduates must pass the Rhetoric English Mastery Exam (REME) with an 80% or better, or take the high school level Rhetoric Grammar class. This exam will be given on Saturday, October 13, at 9:00 a.m. The cost of the exam is $50 and your student may take the test up to three times for $50 (after three times students must sign up for the class or pay another $50 to keep attempting the test). The REME will be offered again in the spring and next summer. Students in 10th – 12th grade wishing to take the REME must sign up in the school office and may pick up a book to review for the exam. Please call the office if you have questions about the REME.
“WHITE CHRISTMAS” SET WORK DAY
The set for the December production of “White Christmas” is beginning to go up in our Great Room, but we need help to get it completely built. Bring your tools and meet us at 9:00 a.m. this Saturday, October 13, for a set building day. We’ll work until noon, but please come even if for only a couple of hours. Dads and high school boys are needed!
ACA requires all of our 11th graders to take the PSAT. The PSAT is the qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship. This test will be given on Wednesday, October 17th, beginning at 8:00 a.m. ALL 11th graders need to be here at that time, including part-time students. We have just a few spaces open for the PSAT – if you have a 10th grader who would like to take it, please call or stop by the office. The cost for ACA 10th graders is $15. No cost for ACA 11th graders.
The end of the first quarter will be this Friday – can you believe it? Report cards will be distributed on Wednesday afternoon, October 17. Parents can also check Gradenet at any time to see their students’ grades.
Next week is Fall Break, which means that there is NO SCHOOL on Thursday and Friday, October 18 & 19. Enjoy your long weekend!
YEARBOOK PICTURE DAY
Yearbook Picture Day will be Monday, October 22, beginning at 8:00 a.m. There will be NO HIGH CONVOCATION UNIFORM requirement that day. Students should wear their color polo shirt for their yearbook picture. Watch for picture ordering information to come home with your students!

We are looking for “Good News” about our ACA students, parents, teachers, and alumni to share in the Fall 2012 Augustine Forum magazine.
