The Charger Newsletter

Our annual student fundraiser events are this Friday, October 4th. The Grammar School students will be bringing their bikes, trikes, skates, & scooters to school and taking part in the fourth annual Wheel-A-Thon and fun day. Students may wear Spirit Wear BUT THEY MUST BRING THEIR BIKE HELMETS! Grammar school students will also enjoy a soccer clinic, a batting cage, games, and making a craft. A pizza lunch will be provided! Parents: We are in need of some more volunteers for our Grammar School event! If you would be willing to lend a hand for even a couple of hours, please just plan to stay and pitch in to help.

Our Secondary students will once again be serving in the community with our Serve-A-Thon day at four different locations in the Tulsa area and will then return to the school and have some games and a Grailball scrimmage that afternoon. Students should wear Spirit Wear! Part-time students should plan to arrive at 8:00 a.m. if they are participating in the Serve-A-Thon. Lunches will be provided! Parents are welcome to come and watch the Grailball scrimmages that will begin at about 2:00 p.m.

School will dismiss for the day at the regular time of 3:30 p.m. and after school care will be available.

THANKS SO MUCH for putting together the mailing or e-mail lists for your students. We are planning to have an amazingly successful fundraiser day! We have already received $7000 in donations! If you have questions, please contact Mr. Ahrens in the school office or at: [email protected] See you on Friday!

This is the theme of our FIRST Little Theatre of the year on Friday, October 11th, at 7:00 p.m. For those who are not familiar with Little Theatre, it is an enjoyable 1-2 hour evening devoted to music or drama from Show Choir, Vocal Express, Drama, and Student Performers of ACA. There are 3 Little Theatres during the school year. The cost is $2 adults and $1 for students at the door. There is always a concession stand that opens when the doors open at 6:30 pm. The first Little Theatre is called “Hopelessly Devoted to You” as we dedicate this evening to our supporters. It will feature Show Choir (with lots of fun, toe tapping numbers) and Vocal Express (the guys will perform a Beatles number and the girls a Taylor Swift number). Show Choir and Vocal Express come together for one big number at the end. Bring your family and friends and support the arts at ACA!

On Wednesday, October 16, beginning at 8:00 a.m. all ACA juniors will be taking the PSAT. Part-time juniors should plan to be here that morning even if they aren’t normally here during that time. PARENTS: please remind your juniors to pick up their preparation booklets/practice tests in the school office. *We have a few slots available for any ACA 10th grader or 10th or 11th grade homeschooler who would like to take the PSAT. Call the school office for more information or to register for the test!

REMINDER! There is no school on October 17 & 18 because of Fall Break.

On Friday, October 25th, the ACA Class of 2014 will sponsor a chili dinner and dessert auction. This event will be held in the Performing Arts Building and will begin at 6:00 p.m. The cost is $3 per person with a max of $15 per family (age 4 & under are free!) and you get chili with pasta or fritos, & your beverage! Following dinner there will be a live dessert auction! All desserts for the auction will be provided by the seniors (and their families) and you’ll want to be here to bid on your favorite to enjoy there or take home! Bring your friends and family and support the senior class! If you have any questions, contact the school office. (The previously scheduled talent show will be held during second semester.)

Did you know that Christian kids today are facing issues such as depression, isolation, drinking, “sexting”, cutting, etc. Do you sometimes wish that you had someone to pray with you about your students’ walk with the Lord? You do! We would love for you to join us for an hour on Wednesday mornings at 8:15 in the PAB as we pray for the students and families of ACA. Feel free to come occasionally or every week! We are always stronger together!

Parents, please remember that our Tuesday lunches must be ordered in advance (the Thursday prior or on the monthly order form) and students are not able to order on Tuesday mornings. Every other day of the week lunches may still be ordered first thing in the morning.

We still have a few student discount coupons for the Tulsa State Fair. The coupons are available in the school office.

Have questions? Please call ACA at 918-832-4600
