The Charger Newsletter

There is a meeting for the parents of seniors THIS FRIDAY at 6:00 p.m. in the ACA Performing Arts Building. Mr. Post will be giving you information about graduation including: location, ordering caps & gowns, ordering announcements, senior pictures, display tables, and costs. If you have a senior graduating with ACA in 2014, at least one parent must attend this important meeting!

A BIG THANK YOU to the parents who volunteered their time last Friday to help with our Fall Fundraiser. Our Grammar School students had a great time during their Wheel-a-thon and Fun Day! We really appreciate the corporate sponsors who came out and provided special activities for our students: Home Depot helped them build wooden tool boxes, Amazing Athletes put on a soccer clinic, and Perfect Practice Athletic Center brought a batting cage! Our secondary students, in their Houses, went out into the community to serve at the Food Bank, Little Light House, Claire House, and Oasis Care Center. They classified, cleared, cleaned, and clobbered (a snake!). They scrubbed, sorted, swept, stacked, and sang. They served without complaint. They were the hands and feet of Jesus! We are so proud of our students!

We had an amazingly fundraiser day! As of today we have received over $16,600 in donations and more is coming in the mail each day! Please follow up with those folks your student sent letters to and share about their day. Let them know that it’s not to late to support your student, if they haven’t already done so. Donations received by the end of October will count toward your student’s prize level! If you have questions, please contact Mr. Ahrens in the school office or at: [email protected]

“Hopelessly Devoted to You” is the theme for THIS FRIDAY NIGHT’S first Little Theatre of the season featuring the ACA Show Choir and Vocal Express. Come prepared to clap your hands and tap your toes to our musical selections from the 50’s, 60’s (including The Beatles), and today with current numbers made popular by such artists as Sugarland and One Direction. Guests will also be treated to a sneak peak interview and special musical number from our upcoming December production of “It’s a Wonderful Life”. You won’t want to miss THIS Friday’s Little Theatre! Doors open at 6:30 pm. Admission is: $2 for Adults, $1 for Children/Students. The Concession stand will open at 6:30 also and will be open at Intermission. You can purchase Nachos, Pizza, Candy, and Soft Drinks! We hope to see you this Friday night for an evening of great entertainment!

NEXT Wednesday, October 16, beginning at 8:00 a.m. all ACA juniors will be taking the PSAT. This is the qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship Competition. Part-time juniors should plan to be here that morning even if they aren’t normally here during that time. We have two open slots available for any ACA 10th grader or homeschooler (in 10th or 11th grade) who would like to take the PSAT. Call the school office for more information!

REMINDER! There is no school on October 17 & 18 because of Fall Break.

On Friday, October 25th, the ACA Class of 2014 will sponsor a chili dinner and dessert auction. This event will be held in the Performing Arts Building and will begin at 6:00 p.m. The cost is $3 per person with a max of $15 per family (age 4 & under are free!) and you get chili with pasta or fritos, & your beverage! Following dinner there will be a live dessert auction! All desserts for the auction will be provided by the seniors (and their families) and you’ll want to be here to bid on your favorite to enjoy here or take home! Bring your friends and family and support the senior class! If you have any questions, contact the school office. (The previously scheduled talent show will be held during second semester.)

Do you sometimes wish that you had someone to pray with you about your students’ walk with the Lord? You do! We would love for you to join us for an hour on Wednesday mornings at 8:15 in the PAB as we pray for the students and families of ACA. Feel free to come occasionally or every week! We are always stronger together!

Parents, please remember that our Tuesday lunches must be ordered in advance (the Thursday prior or on the monthly order form) and students are not able to order on Tuesday mornings. Every other day of the week lunches may still be ordered first thing in the morning.
