This Thursday, August 7th, at 6:30 p.m. we will meet with parents of secondary age students (grades 6 – 12).  This is the only time during the school year that we have the opportunity to share important information to parents in person!  It also provides a time for you to meet our teachers and hear their expectations for the new school year.  Students do not need to attend – they will have their own orientation time on the first day of school, August 11th.

 THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL – The first day of school will be a full day, beginning at 8:00 a.m. and ending at 3:30 p.m.  All students, grades K4 – 12, including part-time students and those who will be attending classes only on T/Th, need to attend the morning student orientation (8:00 – noon).  Full time students and those attending part-time on MWF will have a shortened class day during the afternoon with each MWF class meeting for approximately 30 minutes.  Everyone will need to pack their lunch – no lunches will be available for purchase.  After school care will be available on the first day of school!  Please call the school office if you have any questions about our first day of school: 918-832-4600.



Our full line up of vender lunches will not begin until the week of August 25th, however, on Wednesday, August 13th and August 20th, we will have CiCi’s pizza available.  Pizza is $1.25 per slice.  Students must order their pizza first thing in the morning!  Secondary students will order in their first hour class, but elementary students must order at the office window.  We will offer “Lunch Ledgers” again this year.  Parents may set up a ledger page in the office for your students to use for lunch purchases.  Also later in August, the monthly lunch order form will be available for September.  Watch the Charger for additional lunch information coming soon!



All students entering grades 9 - 12 are invited to the FREE audition workshop for our upcoming fall musical “Oklahoma!” on Friday, August 15th after school.  Auditions will be held on August 17th and 18th, with call-backs on the 19th.  Director Mrs. Post says “My inspiration for ACA’s production will be the stage version starring Hugh Jackman with the Royal National Theatre.  You can watch it FREE online on under Episodes > Rodgers & Hammerstein’s “Oklahoma” > Oklahoma.  This is my favorite version. I think you will see why after you watch it!”  Our “Oklahoma!” performances will be November 13 - 16, 2014.  Mrs. Post will be giving more information at Parent Orientation on August 7th!



This year, there will be a new class for high school students who are interested in working with children.  We have enhanced our Student Aide program and added a Student Intern program.  Dr. McGuire will be overseeing both of these classes.  If your student is interested in either one of these opportunities, you may contact Dr. McGuire at [email protected] .  Specific information will also be available during student orientation.

Teacher Aide (.5 credit per year)

The Teacher Aide Program provides an opportunity for each student to gain a realistic experience within the teaching profession as they observe and help the classroom teacher.  Students will be assigned to Grammar school classrooms (Pre-K-5th grade) based upon need and available cooperating teachers.  

Teacher Intern (1 full credit per year)

The Teacher Intern Class is a career exploration experience for students considering a teaching career.  Each intern works daily (M,W,F or T,Th) with a classroom teacher and is exposed to a variety of classroom activities representative of the responsibilities of a teacher.  Interns will be asked to perform duties such as interacting with students in the classroom, tutoring individual students, creating bulletin boards, and teaching a lesson.  At the end of the experience, the Intern should have a good idea of whether or not he or she would like to pursue a career in education.  In addition to the classroom experience, a journal and assignments will be required to achieve a full unit of credit.



Attention Grammar School Families:  There is a brand new Parent/Student Handbook just for our Grammar School (K4-5th grade).  Parents, you can find the new handbook attached below!
