The Charger Newsletter

This Friday, September 19, we will have a shortened class schedule for secondary students and the afternoon will be devoted to organizing the annex and the school closets.  Full-time students are expected to stay, and part-time students are encouraged to stay or to return.  The class schedule for the day is attached below.  Parents are welcome to come and help during the afternoon!  Questions?  Please contact your students’ House sponsor.

Congratulations to Dylan Compton!  Dylan is a National Merit Scholarship Program Commended Scholar.  Dylan is new to ACA and we are glad she and her family have joined us.  Congratulations!

Carry the Light Fund Raiser

On October 3rd, our secondary students will “Carry the Light” through acts of community service with their Houses at the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma, The Little Lighthouse, Oasis Adult Daycare, and the Clarehouse Hospice Home. Our Grammar School students will learn about carrying the light through stations representing world missions. Their day will include food and games from around the world, and a Samaritan’s Purse station where our students will be packing shoe boxes with school supplies and toys for Operation Christmas Child.

If you have not yet turned in your address labels, please send them with your student by September 19th so that the letters can be mailed out next week. Your assistance with this year’s fundraiser is greatly appreciated!  If you have questions, please contact Mr. Ahrens at: [email protected]

On Wednesday, October 15th, all 11th graders (full-time & part-time) will be taking the PSAT/NMSQT at ACA.  The test is about 3 hours long and is the qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship Competition.  There is no charge for ACA 11th graders to take this test.  All ACA juniors should stop by the office and pick up the preparation & practice booklet.

All 9th and 10th graders should have received a Diploma Track Commitment form in the mail recently.  Those forms should be completed and returned to Mrs. Cathey in the school office by Tuesday, September 30th.

Attached below is the monthly lunch order form for October.  You will notice there are some changes to our lunch menu!  Chick-fil-A has raised its prices on a few items, our pizza will come from Sam’s Club instead of CiCi’s, and the Augustine Cafe menu will be different from September (no more peanut butter).  If you are ordering for the month, please turn in your order form and payment by Sept. 26th.  (Please note that the lunch menu covers 5 weeks and is 3 pages this time!)

Students in Stagecraft class ordered t-shirts to wear when doing messy jobs (painting, gluing, etc.) so they won’t ruin their uniform shirts.  Those t-shirts are in and can be picked up in the school office.  They are $11 each.

From Mrs. Collingsworth:  “It has been a pleasure to meet with our students and discuss college!  One of the items that I am discussing with all of them is a workbook entitled, “Accepted!  A College Planning Workbook”, by Janet Miranda, PhD.  We are suggesting that each of our high school students have a copy of this workbook.  You can order it from Amazon Smile for $15.56.  If a few of you order together you can get free shipping (with an order over $35).  And please choose St. Augustine Academy, Inc. as your charitable organization when ordering on!  This workbook will be a great help to each student, along with our group and individual meetings.  Please feel free to contact me with any college-related question or concern and I will do my best to help you!  [email protected]

We need you!  We need you join us to pray for just one hour a week, on Wednesday mornings, from 8:15-9:15.  We pray for our children, our school, and our families; so it is an opportunity to make one hour in your week have an eternal impact!  Please join us in the PAB on Wednesday morning at 8:15 every week, once a month, or even only a couple of times a year!  If you have any questions, call Carmen Applebaum at 918-720-9922.  See you there!

This week we received a check for $467.83 from Target’s Take Charge of Education program!  A BIG “THANK YOU” to everyone who has used their Target REDcard and designated ACA as your school recipient.  Target donates 1% of purchases made with their REDcard at Target and

Have you heard of Amazon Smile?  When you shop at Amazon will make a donation to ACA for 0.5% of your purchase of eligible products.  Go to and register for your donations to go to Augustine Christian Academy (St. Augustine Academy, Inc.)!  This is a fast and easy way to support ACA!

Yes, we accept Box Tops and Soup Labels!  Bring your Box Tops for Education and your Campbell’s Labels for Education to the school office!  These can be redeemed for classroom supplies and money for ACA.  PLEASE NOTE: Box Tops do have an expiration date, so please turn them in every couple of months instead of waiting until you have saved a huge amount of them.  Also, our next “turn in date” is late October, so bring in all of your Box Tops this month!

If you shop at Office Depot, please ask them to credit your purchase to Augustine Christian Academy.  Office Depot sends a gift card to us twice a year that is equal to 5% of the purchases credited to the school by customers.  This can help us quite a lot during the year!
