The ACA Grammar School classes will be visiting the World’s Largest Outdoor Classroom on Tuesday, Sept. 30.  Parents please note:  All chaperones MUST have their volunteer paperwork on file in the office by this Friday, Sept. 26.  If you are planning to join your child on this field trip, please let the classroom teacher know ASAP and pick up the volunteer forms in the school office.  Parents must pay a $4.00 admission fee and that is due on Sept. 26 as well.  We are not able to add parents to our count after Friday.  For safety and easy identification reasons, we are asking that the students wear their gray “One Another” t-shirt on this field trip.  If you have any questions, please contact Dr. McGuire at: [email protected]



We are very excited to launch our 2014-2015 Salt & Light chapel series this coming Monday, September 29th at 9:15 a.m.  Our first guest will be the Director of Creative Arts at Southwestern Christian University in Bethany, Oklahoma, artist and musician, Taylor Drake. Our Salt & Light series, and all of our regular chapel services are open to our ACA parents. Please feel free to join us on Monday!  Students MUST wear their High Convocation uniform for Salt & Light chapel services!  The class schedule will be slightly adjusted to allow our special speaker some additional time.  Please see the adjusted schedule attached below.



On October 3rd, our secondary students will “Carry the Light” through acts of community service with their Houses at the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma, The Little Lighthouse, Oasis Adult Daycare, and the Clarehouse Hospice Home. Our Grammar School students will learn about carrying the light through stations representing world missions. Their day will include food and games from around the world, and a Samaritan’s Purse station where our students will be packing shoe boxes with school supplies and toys for Operation Christmas Child.

We need 8 more volunteers to help us with the Grammar School students’ events that day!  Volunteers don’t have to be parents of Grammar School students, grandparents are welcome too!  If you would be able to help us out for even part of the day, please contact Mrs. Cathey at: [email protected]   If your student has not yet turned in their addresses for the fundraiser, there is still time! On Wednesday, October 15th, all 11th graders (full-time & part-time) will be taking the PSAT/NMSQT at ACA.  The test is about 3 hours long and is the qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship Competition.  There is no charge for ACA 11th graders to take this test.  All ACA juniors should stop by the office and pick up the preparation & practice booklet.



Attached below is the monthly lunch order form for October.  You will notice there are some changes to our lunch menu!  Chick-fil-A has raised its prices on a few items, our pizza will come from Sam’s Club instead of CiCi’s, and the Augustine Cafe menu will be different from September (no more peanut butter).  If you are ordering for the month, please turn in your order form and payment by this Friday, Sept. 26th.  (Please note that the lunch menu covers 5 weeks and is 3 pages this time!)



All 9th and 10th graders should have received a Diploma Track Commitment form in the mailrecently.  Those forms should be completed and returned to Mrs. Cathey in the school office by Tuesday, September 30th.



Discount coupons for the Tulsa State Fair were handed out to our Grammar School students today.  Secondary students may pick up coupons in the school office.  These student coupons can be used for $2.00 gate admission Monday - Friday, Sept. 26 through Oct. 3.  (The coupons are not valid for Saturday & Sunday fair admission)



On Wednesday, October 1, all students and staff will be having their portraits taken for the school yearbook.  Students need to wear their navy polo shirt for their portrait.  We are using a new portrait company this year and they will do things a bit differently than we have gotten used to in the past few years.  A proof will be sent home about one week after our Portrait Day with ordering information so parents can see the portrait, background choices, package prices, and have the option to order.  If you have questions, please contact Mrs. Brewer at:  [email protected] or Andy’s Fine Portraits at: [email protected]



The H.E.N. House  will be having a meeting on Wednesday, October 1, at 2:00 p.m. in the PAB.  Remember, the H.E.N. House is the House just for parents, with a mission to Help, Encourage , and Nurture the members of the ACA community.  Come to our meeting next Wednesday and see how you can be a part!   Questions? Plan to come out for our first Little Theatre of the 2014/2015 season on Friday, October 10 at 7:00 p.m.  The ACA Show Choir and Vocal Express have been working on music that is going to WOW you!  Also, those who attend will be treated to a “sneak peek” of our upcoming musical “Oklahoma”  You won’t want to miss this great hour of entertainment!  Concessions will available to serve you!  Doors will open at 6:30.  Tickets are at the door only and the cost is:  Adults $2, Students and Children $1.  Come early to ensure yourself a seat!



There will be a meeting for the parents for our senior class on Friday, Oct. 10, at 6:00 p.m.  Mr. Post will be distributing information concerning graduation, senior pictures, graduation announcements, caps & gowns, etc.  It is very important that at least one parent attend this meeting!  Mr. Post will dismiss you in time to attend the Little Theatre that evening.




We need you!  We need you join us to pray for just one hour a week, on Wednesday mornings, from 8:15-9:15.  We pray for our children, our school, and our families; so it is an opportunity to make one hour in your week have an eternal impact!  Please join us in the PAB on Wednesday morning at 8:15 every week, once a month, or even only a couple of times a year!  If you have any questions, call Carmen Applebaum at 918-720-9922.  See you there!


This Friday is the final Friday in September and therefore will be a Spirit Wear Day for everyone… no coupon necessary!  Guidelines for Spirit Wear from the handbook:  Students may wear any ACA-sponsored club or House T-shirt (long enough to tuck into jeans) with clean, well-fitting blue jeans (relaxed fit, denim, plain, neat and in good repair) or uniform shorts and athletic shoes. No cargo pants, sag look, low riders, skin tight, or frayed, torn (no holes) or embroidered jeans allowed. Uniform shorts can be no more than 6 inches above the floor when kneeling.
