Great news, Performing Arts Booster Club: The boxes of World’s Finest Chocolate bars have arrived!

For “Peter Pan” cast parents, one box per performer will be distributed to you at pickup time after this Thursday’s rehearsal.  For “Oklahoma!” cast parents, pickup time will be this Thursday immediately after school.

Parents - if your student participated in either of our productions this year, your family is responsible for selling (or buying) one box per student, up to two boxes per family.  $60 per box will be due in one month, in the form of a check or large bills only, or you can pay in advance, when picking up your chocolate bars.  There WILL be prizes awarded to the persons who sell the most boxes!!!

Everyone has chocolate on their minds with Valentine’s Day right around the corner, so this is an easy sell (or you can buy the box yourself and hide it away as Mama’s secret little stash… we won’t tell).

Sweet and Salty Desserts, Water, Tea and Punch will be served.

Say “I LOVE YOU” with a song!

The ACA Ladies Show Choir is offering Singing Valentines again this year. They will be serenading their valentines on Friday, February, 13th. The only “bad luck” you will need to worry about is not ordering your singing valentine before all the slots are filled up. Singing Valentines are on sale now and we will continue taking orders through February 12th or until all available slots are filled. We also offer singing valentines via telephone. The order form is attached below and is also available in the school office.  For more information call Gale Post at 918-852-2040.

The Performing Arts Booster Club will be operating a Valentine store every day next week in the school lobby.  The store will be open from 7:30-8:30, 11:30-1:15, and 2:45-3:45 daily.  A wide variety of items are available in all price ranges.  Students can buy items for each other, for their teachers, their siblings, or their parents.  Parents can have gifts delivered to their students or their students’ teachers.  Items will be delivered on Friday afternoon, February 13, to full time and MWF students, and on Thursday afternoon, Feb. 12, to students who only attend on Tues/Thurs.  Please come shop and support the arts at ACA!

Enrollment contracts for 2015-2016 were mailed out today to all current ACA families today.  Watch the mail for yours to arrive!  A few of our Grammar School grades are at or near capacity this year, and we have already had new families expressing interest in enrolling their children for next year.  To save your child’s place in class, please return your enrollment contract to the school office as quickly as you can, because on March 2nd we begin accepting new students for the fall.  Also, please be sure to read the letter enclosed with the enrollment contract!

Students graduating from ACA must either pass the Rhetoric English Mastery Exam (REME)with an 80% or better, or take the Rhetoric Grammar class in high school.  We offer the REME several times during the year.  The cost is $50 for three opportunities to pass the REME.  The next testing opportunity is Tuesday, February 10th, at 3:15 p.m.  Call the office or email [email protected] to sign up your student to take the REME next Tuesday.

For those “Electric Personalities” who have helped us… we still need you!  We have accomplished a lot, but we still have the entire second floor to do!  PSO has approved ACA for a large rebate, but only after we complete the process of converting our lighting over to High Efficiency ballasts and bulbs.  To maximize our financial benefit, we are keeping the installation labor in-house. If you are adept at working with simple wiring and can commit the odd hour or two to assisting, please contact Mr. Ahrens at [email protected]  This is an ongoing, daily project, so you are welcome to schedule a time to assist on any day. Let us know if you can help us for a few hours.

Our art teacher, Ms. Linda Thornhill, is needing a few items for some art projects she has planned.  If you have any styrofoam egg cartons, paper grocery bags, or 9 x 12 or larger picture frames that you could donate, please drop them off in the school office.  Thank you!

The dvd’s of the fall performance of “Oklahoma!” should be ready any day now.  If you would like to order one or more of these dvd’s, please contact the school office.  We need to know how many dvd’s to produce!  They will cost $20 each.  Those who pre-order and pre-pay will receive their dvd’s first!

PARENTS, PLEASE REMEMBER: There is no stopping or dropping off in the street in front of the school or at the walk-way to the front door! For your safety and the safety of our other families, please pull around to the South side of the building where we have three lanes for drop-off and pick-up. If you would like your student to enter through the front, please park before dropping them off. You can use our lot, the Akdar Shriners lot, or the church lot (Vision Family Ministry) next door and have your students walk to the front door. We will have a student worker posted to direct traffic in the mornings as a reminder. We open our doors at 7:15 a.m. If you arrive prior to 7:15, please remain with your student until the doors are unlocked. A 15-minute “Parent Parking Only” space will be provided in the coming days for your convenience. We truly appreciate your cooperation with this policy.

The Inclement Weather/Snow Day policy we will adopt for the season is as follows: ACA will be focused on the ability of our families to safely navigate the roads and our parking lot.  ACA will remain openunless specifically noted on the school closings list on Channels 2, 6 and 23 and their websites. We will close the school when warranted if snow or ice would cause unsafe traveling conditions for our families. Low temperatures alone may not result in our closing the school. We recognize that this is a deviation from years past when we were tied specifically to the Tulsa Public Schools winter weather closing decisions.

We know that we will not be able to please everyone when these hard decisions need to be made and we appreciate your understanding.  Because snow & ice accumulation often differs north of Tulsa & south of Tulsa, if you have a student driver, please use your own discretion as to whether or not you feel they should be out on the roads.

DVD’s of the ACA production of “School House Rock” are now available for purchase in the school office.  The dvd costs $20.00 and checks should be made payable to Kenneth Jones.
