The Charger Newsletter

Dear ACA families & friends,

What a sweet show of love you all gave me last Sunday at my retirement Open House.  Thank you for your generous gifts and cards.  I am going to buy a new chair and ottoman for my new living room and I’ll call it my ACA chair - I will sit in it surrounded by your love and smile with many, many sweet memories of my years at ACA.  Thank you again for the fulfillment of a mission.

Love, Lorretta Miller

The FACTS monthly payment forms for the 2015-2016 school year are now available in the school office.  If you are planning to pay your tuition next year with the monthly payment option of FACTS automatic withdrawals, please stop by the school office and pick up the payment form.  Forms need to be returned to the office at least three weeks prior to the first payment.

Come and enjoy an enchanting musical afternoon listening to the voices of fourteen ACA students.  Some of these voices you will have heard before, and others you will hear for the very first time!  These students will take part in the very first ACA Voice Recital this Sunday, April 26th, in the ACA Great Room at 3:00.  Students include those who have been taking voice lessons from ACA staff and those students in Vocal Express who need an opportunity to solo in front of an audience.  This recital is FREE and open to the public, and will be followed by a short reception.

Congratulations to ACA junior Hannah Brennecke!  Several ACA students attended Camp Enterprise the weekend of April 9 - 12.  Camp Enterprise is sponsored by the Rotary Clubs in the Tulsa area for high school juniors.  Hannah was solely awarded the President’s Award for “Most Notable Leader” at the camp.  ACA is proud of Hannah!

The lunch order form for the month of May is now available in the school office and is attached below.  PLEASE NOTE: The May order form includes April 27-30.  If you are ordering for the month, please bring your order and payment to the school office by Friday, April 24.

On Monday, April 27th, we will be hosting our next Salt & Light chapel. Please join us in welcoming our guests Taylor Drake and the One Voice Singers from Southwestern Christian University in Bethany, Oklahoma. We are excited to learn the impact that SCU and the One Voice Singers are having as they minister through song in their service to the Lord.  ACA students must wear High Convocation uniforms on Monday.  The class schedule will be adjusted to allow our visitors more time in chapel - please see the schedule attached below for class times.

The first annual Auggie Awards ceremony will be Friday, May 1, 7:00 pm at St. James Methodist Church.  Cost is $7.  Cast and crew from “Oklahoma” and “Peter Pan” and Booster Club members are FREE, however, you still must pick up your tickets from the office.  Dress is Formal (like Winter Court) for cast and alumni. Parents need to dress in the spirit of the dress code. NO JEANS please.  Awards will be presented by performing arts alumni. There will be entertainment throughout the evening (alumni, select Vocal Express members, Advance Acting, and Show Choir singing excerpts from “Wicked”).   After the ceremony, parents, please join us for finger foods, beverages, and the final Booster Club meeting of the season.  Cast, students, and alumni will be treated to pizza, beverages, games, and dancing to the music of our live DJ.  You won’t want to miss this evening!  JR. HIGH PARENTS:  We encourage you to attend the ceremony and accept your child’s award on their behalf!

ACA’s Junior High students (grades 6 - 8) will be traveling to Dallas and Jefferson, TX the weekend of May 1 - 3.  This trip will include dinner at the Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament Castle in Dallas, and an awesome  Civil War Battle re-enactment in Jefferson, TX.  You will find all of the information and permission slip attached below.  Permission slips are due by this Friday, April 24th and payment is due by April 30th.  Seating on the vans is limited, so don’t wait too long to turn in your student’s permission slip or all of the spots may be taken!  There is no school on Friday, May 1st, for junior high students not on the trip and no school for any junior high students on Monday, May 4th.  Please contact Mrs. Miller at [email protected] or the school office with questions.

Parents of Seniors:  Senior yearbook dedications are a great way to celebrate your graduate!  It’s also an excellent opportunity to share a favorite photo of them!  Dedication requests have been extended to Friday, May 1, but availability remains on a first-come, first-served basis, as space is limited.  Rates vary from $40 for one-eighth page to $280 for a full page.  Please see the attached form below for the specifications and submission guidelines.

BUSINESS OWNERS: We are now accepting ads for the yearbook!  This is an excellent opportunity to promote your business to our ACA families and support the yearbook.  Ad sizes range from 1/8th page (business card size) to a full page.  For prices and more information, please contact the school office or Karen Aspenson at [email protected]   Ad space is available on a first come, first-served basis.
