The Charger Newsletter

Our first of several Food, Fellowship and FUNdraising nights was a great success last week! For those who were able to make it, we packed out the Panera Bread at 41st and Hudson. It was a great time of fellowship and we well surpassed the 50 flyers needed to receive 20% of the proceeds from the ACA receipts. They are cutting ACA a check for over $200 since our ACA families and friends purchased in excess of $1000 worth of food and drinks.  Thank you so much for your participation!

We will be shooting for the 1st Thursday of each month and will announce the next location in the Charger and on FB and our website. We look forward to seeing you at the next event. It seems like our families kinda like hanging out together!  :)

The first Little Theatre of the 2015-2016 school year will be THIS Friday, October 9th, at 7:00 p.m.  The Ladies Show Choir and the Intro to Musical Theater class will present “100 Years of Disney” and you will want to be here to sing along with medley’s from your favorite Disney shows and movies!  Guests will also be treated to a SPECIAL SNEAK PEEK from our upcoming production of “The Sound of Music” in November.  Doors will open on Friday at 6:30 p.m. and concessions will be available including homemade pulled pork BBQ sandwiches & chips for only $4.00, pop, water, & candy for $1.00, and we’ll have giant pickles!  Be warned - the BBQ sandwiches will sell out!  Admission to Little Theatre is pay at the door only: $3.00 for adults & secondary students and $2 for children; and seating is limited.  Invite your friends and bring your family for this special night!  ALSO, guests attending Little Theatre will have the opportunity after the show to purchase tickets to “The Sound of Music”!  Those tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for students/children.

Tickets for our fall musical “The Sound of Music” are on sale to cast parents this week and to everyone else on Monday, October 12th.  Tickets cost $10 for adults and $7.00 for students.  The performances of “The Sound of Music” will be as shown:

Thursday, November 12th at 7:00 p.m.

Friday, November 13th at 7:00 p.m.

Saturday, November 14th at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

Sunday, November 15th at 3:00 p.m.

Our productions do sell out, so please don’t wait until the last minute to get your tickets!  Get them early to assure you get tickets to the performance of your choice!

If you missed Yearbook picture day, or weren’t happy with your student’s picture, Picture Re-Take day is next Tuesday, October 13th, beginning at 9:00 a.m.  Students having their picture taken should wear their High Convocation uniform for their picture.  Questions?  Contact Mr. Drake at: [email protected]

We are giving the PSAT/NMSQT to our 11th graders on Wednesday, October 14th.  Preparation booklets will be distributed to each 11th grader.  The PSAT is the qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship Program.  Part-time students should plan to be here that morning to take the PSAT and all students must bring their own calculator for the math portion (phones are not allowed to be used).  Please contact the school office if you have any questions.

Mr. Rodgers and Mr. Jackson will be heading up the following set/prop building dates for cast parents and students (high school age!) who have either signed up or want to join the team.  The set building dates are this Saturday, Oct. 10th and Saturday, Oct. 24th.  We’ll work from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 or from 10:00 until 3:00, and just a reminder that volunteer hours are in blocks of 5 hours, so we ask that if you are working your volunteer hours, to work one of those two scheduled times.  ACA high school students who come to help will receive community service hours, but their time cannot count toward cast parents’ volunteer hours.

Due to Grammar School teacher conferences next Wednesday, October 14th, the students in grades K4 - 5th will be dismissed at 11:30 a.m.  There will not be any after school care available for these students, so please make arrangements to pick up your child on time.  Thanks so much for your cooperation!

The long-awaited dvd’s of the ACA summer production of Disney’s “The Lion King” are here!  If you ordered a dvd, you can stop by the school office to pay and pick up your dvd.  The cost is $10 each and checks can be made payable to ACA.

The “Peter Pan” dvd’s are also still available in the office.  Those dvd’s cost $20 each.

Our regular office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day that school is in session. If you need to reach someone outside of office hours, please email [email protected] .
