The Charger Newsletter

On Friday, November 20th, our staff and faculty will show a side of themselves rarely seen in the normal course of their ACA responsibilities. You will laugh, cheer, and maybe even cry (for one reason or another) during this fun filled evening of music, merriment, and majesty as we worship and play together with our ACA family and friends.

Come join us next Friday, November 20th, from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at Woodlake Assembly on 31st St. between Sheridan and Memorial. This evening is our time to honor and show our thanks to the staff and teachers by taking an offering for their annual Christmas Bonus. They, in turn, will be showing you their thanks by giving back with their “non-teaching” talents.  The evening will end with a time of refreshments and fellowship together.  This will be a very special night that you will not want to miss!  See you there!

The Class of 2016 is sponsoring Spirit Week next week.  Students can purchase the week’s worth of spirit wear for $10, or partial week for $5, from the seniors (Grammar School students can turn their money in to their teacher).  There will be Superhero day, nerd day, Disney day, and more!  See the flyer attached below for more information and contact Mrs. Cathey with questions.

The Grammar School is selling navy blue athletic jackets that have the ACA Grammar School logo on them.  Jacket orders are due in the office by this Friday, Nov. 13th.  Please see the order form attached below for pricing and sizes available.

Jostens, the leading producer of yearbooks, has announced that Augustine Christian Academy’s yearbook program was named a 2015 Jostens’ National Yearbook Program of Excellence. The National Yearbook Program of Excellence recognizes engaging yearbooks that reflect a broad representation of the student body while helping students develop 21st century skills such as communication, collaboration, and information and communication technologies (ICT) literacy.

The Augustine Christian Academy award winning yearbook staff was led by Lynna Blanco and Katie Osborne under the direction of Mrs. Karen Aspenson, 2014-2015 yearbook adviser.  Mrs. Aspenson says, “This team of ten students worked tirelessly and adhered to strict standards of excellence. They went out of their way to meet every deadline; to follow specifications that they as a team agreed upon; and to include every student in the yearbook at least three times.  I am deeply proud of my students’ efforts and this recognition by Jostens.”

The Award was presented to the ACA yearbook program for achieving the defined criteria in each of three following categories: creating an inclusive yearbook, generating school engagement, and successfully managing the yearbook creation process. For the full press release, please see the attachment below.

Attached below you will find an order form for an ACA t-shirt.  It isn’t a House shirt or a Grammar School shirt… it’s an Augustine Christian Academy shirt!  They are available in youth and adult sizes (including XL sizes) and they would make GREAT Christmas gifts!  Order forms and payment are due in the office by November 23rd.

We are looking for a few more substitute teachers to add to our “call list”.  If you, or someone you know, would like to be one of our substitute teachers, please stop by the office and pick up the application and other paperwork.

We are in the process of sending out donation receipts to all those who gave to our Carry the Light student fundraiser.  If your family would like to personally thank those who supported your student, please contact Mr. Ahrens at [email protected] and he can send you a list of those donors.

Our regular office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day that school is in session. If you need to reach someone outside of office hours, please email [email protected] .
