The Charger Newsletter

We had such a great time breaking bread together at Panera in October, we thought we should continue with this new way to fellowship (and fundraise) with our ACA families. We will be hosting a fellowship night at a different restaurant each month. We hope you can join us TOMORROW, December 10th, at the Chipotle restaurant at 5730 E 41st St. between 5:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.  50% of the evening’s proceeds will be donated for every ACA related purchase! Coordinate the outing with some friends or simply come meet new ACA friends. You must present the event flyer (attached below) when ordering for ACA to receive the credit from your order.  Give your friends a flyer and invite them to join you!  We look forward to seeing you there.  (Flyers are also available in the school office.)

This Friday evening, December 11th, at 7:00 p.m. our Grammar School students will present their musical Christmas program, “Gloria”. This event will be held at SpiritLife Church, 5345 S. Peoria Ave. in Tulsa.  Our 5th and 6th grade band will perform, as well as the musical selections from our Grammar School students.  Make sure to invite grandparents and friends!  It will be an enjoyable evening for everyone!

On Tuesday, December 15th, the Hen House will have donuts and milk available for purchase between 7:30 and 8:00 a.m.  Each item will cost $.75 and it will be cash only.  mmmmm… a donut and milk before school sounds great!

We are continuing the finals “Opt Out” program that has been so successful in the last few years, and we are simplifying finals for those taking them. Students who are to take finals will come on the days listed below to take their finals in whatever order they wish.  They can take a study break between them or go right from one to the other all in the same classroom.  Finals will be administered in three different classrooms monitored by three of our teachers.  There will also be two study hall rooms available.  We ask that students sign in at the office window when they arrive and sign out whenever they leave.  There are no other scheduled sessions for finals, so students must take their finals during the times presented.  Lunch will be available on Thursday, but must be ordered by 9:30 a.m. that day.  There will be no lunch available and no after school care on Friday, the 18th.

Finals:    Thursday, December 17,2015         8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

               Friday, December 18, 2015             8:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon

How may a student “Opt Out” of a final?

A student may choose to skip a final if he/she meets the following three criteria:

1. Be absent no more than two times for the semester

2. Have no outstanding work

3. Have a semester grade average of 80% or better

In Gradenet, each class will have an assignment titled “Semester Final Exam”.  If a student has met the three criteria listed above, no later than Monday, December 14th the assignment will have “EXC” marked for excused from the exam.  If the assignment is blank your student is required to take the exam.  Please call the office if you have any questions.

You will find the January lunch order form attached below.  If you are ordering for the month, please turn in your order with payment by Friday, December 18th.  Students may still order each morning.  This monthly order form is for your convenience only.

We have received the results of the Explore Test and PLAN Test that were given to our 8th (new 9th) and 10th graders this fall.  The test results will be given to students this week.  Parents, please ask to see those results!

With the possibility of snow days on the horizon, we wanted to send out another reminder to encourage you to download the SchoolWay App to your phone before winter weather begins!  We do announce our school closings on the local TV stations, but an alert that comes right to your phone is so much more efficient! This is an “alert only” message, so it will be infrequent but important. See the flyer attached below for more information.

Do you shop online for Christmas?  If you shop at Amazon, consider registering at and donating to ACA as you shop.  Amazon Smiles will donate 1% of your purchase total back to your chosen charity… and we’d love you to chose Augustine Christian Academy as your charity!

Our regular office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day that school is in session. If you need to reach someone outside of office hours, please email [email protected] .
