The Charger Newsletter

We want to thank everyone who came out last Thursday night for our ACA event at Chipotle. We raised $300.50 and had a wonderful time of fellowship. Our next event will be held at the new Chick-fil-a across from Promenade Mall on Tuesday, January 12th from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. The owner is also our ACA lunch vendor and we are excited about being his very first fundraiser. It will be a fun evening!  Not only is this a great night for fellowship, we will also have the opportunity to promote ACA to the community. Be sure to mark your calendars. We will be posting more on our ACA website and the Facebook Events page as well.

We are continuing the finals “Opt Out” program that has been so successful in the last few years, and we are simplifying finals for those taking them. Students who are to take finals will come on the days listed below to take their finals in whatever order they wish.  They can take a study break between them or go right from one to the other all in the same classroom.  Finals will be administered in three different classrooms monitored by three of our teachers.  There will also be two study hall rooms available.  We ask that students sign in at the office window when they arrive and sign out whenever they leave.  There are no other scheduled sessions for finals, so students must take their finals during the times presented.  Lunch will be available on Thursday, but must be ordered by 9:30 a.m. that day.  There will be no lunch available and no after school care on Friday, the 18th.  Students must be in uniform when they come to take their final exams.  Students cannot wear spirit wear!

Finals:    Thursday, December 17,2015         8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

               Friday, December 18, 2015             8:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon

How may a student “Opt Out” of a final?

A student may choose to skip a final if he/she meets the following three criteria:

1. Be absent no more than two times for the semester

2. Have no outstanding work

3. Have a semester grade average of 80% or better

In Gradenet, each class will have an assignment titled “Semester Final Exam”.  If a student has met the three criteria listed above, no later than Monday, December 14th the assignment will have “EXC” marked for excused from the exam.  If the assignment is blank your student is required to take the exam.  Please call the office if you have any questions.

You will find the January lunch order form attached below.  If you are ordering for the month, please turn in your order with payment by Friday, December 18th.  Students may still order each morning.  This monthly order form is for your convenience only.

With the possibility of snow days on the horizon, we wanted to send out another reminder to encourage you to download the SchoolWay App to your phone before winter weather begins!  We do announce our school closings on the local TV stations, but an alert that comes right to your phone is so much more efficient! This is an “alert only” message, so it will be infrequent but important. See the flyer attached below for more information.

Our regular office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day that school is in session. If you need to reach someone outside of office hours, please email [email protected] .
