Important “Save The Date” Update for Friday, April 27th!
ACA has been encouraging young minds to Think, Reason, and Persuade from a distinctly Christian perspective for over 20 years! We are excited to continue building on a rich history of unique and even quirky traditions that make us ACA. We are bringing together ACA families, past, present, and even future, for an evening of music and fellowship. The focus of the evening will be the launching of the NEXT 20 years; or, in keeping with our musical theme, we are “Arranging A New Score!” So important is this event, that the Board of Governors and Administration have decided to make this the primary focus of this years fundraising efforts.
This is a very important event beginning at 6:30 p.m. and closing out at 9:00. Our special guests for this evening will be Grady Nichols on saxophone and an amazing acapella group known as “Avenue,” led by Kelly Ford and Dr. Barry Epperley. Other musical guests will include students, alumni, our Show Choir (Luminus), and a special number performed by Luminus, our Musical Theater Class, and our 6th graders! Dinner will include food choices from around the world hosted by our four royal houses. We will be showcasing many unique and wonderful auction items including four (4) One-Day Park Hopper passes to Disney World in Orlando, Florida. Tickets are $30 per person and childcare is provided for ages 4-12 (included in the price of your tickets). Childcare will be in the PAB and staffed by High School House members and adults. If taking advantage of the childcare option, just drop off your kids and drive less than a mile to the event which will be held at Highland Park Christian Church located at 31st and Hudson. Please watch for your Save The Date invitation in the coming weeks. We will be requesting your RSVP be submitted by Monday, April 16th. Tables seat 8 and can be secured for $240 if it is your desire to fill your table with guests. Please be sure to tell your friends about this wonderful evening of music and fellowship. ENROLLMENT & FINANCIAL AID
Re-enrollment information and contracts have been sent out to our current families. To hold your student’s place in their grade, please turn in your enrollment contract by March 30th. We are already receiving enrollment applications from new students and will begin their enrollment process in March, so don’t delay!
The FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment program has opened for applications for financial assistance for the 2018-2019 school year. Financial assistance is available for our families as needed. We understand that private education is a sacrifice. For that reason, we want to make sure our tuition is one of the lowest in the greater Tulsa area. We also do what we can to assist those for whom a private Classical Christian Education might otherwise not be possible. If you know of a family whom you feel should consider ACA, please encourage them to set up a time to tour or shadow in the very near future. Don’t let financial circumstances impede a family from an introduction to ACA. And please remember that if you have received financial aid this year, you must still apply for financial aid for the 2018-2019 school year.
CHANGE TO FACTS PAYMENT PLAN OPTIONS
If you are not paying tuition in full or using the two payment (at semester) payment plan through the front office, the FACTS payment program allows you to set up monthly payments. However, PLEASE NOTE that FACTS can no longer accept credit card payments beginning with the next school year. Changes to the credit card laws no longer allow them to keep credit card information on file for monthly drafts. They will only be able to accept bank draft (or ACH) payments for this process. If this change will adversely impact your payment plan, please reach out to Mr. Ahrens at [email protected] so that other arrangements may be considered.
As a reminder, the payment plans are as follows:
12-month plan: Payments start in May or June. FACTS contracts must be submitted in April.
11-month plan: Payments start in June or July. FACTS contracts must be submitted in May.
10-month plan: Payments start in July or August. FACTS contracts must be submitted in June.
Our FACTS payment enrollment forms will be available in the office soon. If you have questions about our tuition payment plans, please contact the school office or Mr. Ahrens at the above email address.
You will find the monthly lunch order forms for April attached below, and they are available in the school office. If your student is ordering for the month, please turn in the order form and payment to the office by Thursday, March 29th. Please note: There was an error on the March order form… there is no school on Good Friday, March 30th. Those who ordered lunch for that day will be reimbursed to their lunch ledger or to their student.
SPRING BOOK FAIR
Our annual Scholastic Book Fair is this week through Friday at 12:30 in the school lobby. Holding a book fair enables ACA to earn books for our classrooms and our school library. Thanks so much for shopping at the Book Fair!
NATIONAL LATIN EXAM & SPECIAL SCHEDULE
THIS THURSDAY, March 15, all of our secondary Latin students will be taking the National Latin Exam at 8:00 a.m. Latin students should make every effort to be on time that morning! Many of our students earn medals and certificates with their scores on this test!
We will also have a House Special Activity class schedule that day. Please see that special schedule attached below.
There was an error in the Charger Newsletter last week on the time of the Grandparents Day program! Our day will begin at 9:00 a.m. THIS FRIDAY (not 10:00 as was in last week’s Charger) with grandparents visiting their grandchild’s classroom. There will be time for making a craft, outdoor play, visiting the Book Fair, refreshments, and our program. Grammar School parents - please make sure to invite your students’ grandparents to join them on this special day!
School will be dismissed at noon on Friday (all grades!) and there will be no lunch served and no Extended Day after school program.
SALT & LIGHT SECONDARY CHAPEL
The Monday after Spring Break, March 26th, is our next Salt & Light Chapel. Our guest this month is a past member of our ACA family. Kevin Calcote taught music at ACA for several years, over ten years ago. He and his wife, Julie, now serve with Wycliffe Bible Translators. Kevin serves as a Cultural Arts Specialist and Julie is a doctor, serving the needs of the people wherever they are sent. We are excited to hear how God has been using them in ministry these past several years. Parents are always welcome to join us for chapel.
The class schedule will be adjusted to allow our guests more time in chapel. Please see the adjusted class schedule attached below. Chapel begins promptly at 9:50 and will run until 10:50 with a Q&A segment at the end. Secondary students must wear their High Convocation uniforms.
JEAN ANDERSON MEMORIAL BIBLE TEST
This test of Bible knowledge is given each year to any high school student who would like to take it. The top scorer receives a $300 credit at ACA to pay for things like New Life Ranch, House shirts, field trips, lunches, Winter Court, play fees, play tickets, tuition, etc.; and their name goes on the plaque in the school lobby. This year the Bible test will be given during House time on Thursday, March 29th. Students must sign up in advance in the school office.
This year Good Friday falls on March 30th. ACA will not have school on Good Friday, so that our families will be able to prepare for Easter weekend services. We hope that all of our families will have a blessed Easter!
Senior Sponsored Talent Show will be held on Friday, April 13th, at 7:00 p.m. But a successful talent show needs acts to perform! Showcase your talent, and with this student body, we know we have talent out there! We are looking for solos, duets, group songs, monologues, impressions, re-enact a movie/play scene, comedians, ventriloquists, comedic acts, musicians, dancers, and anyone who has a special skill they would like to perform! Auditions are open to all students, grade does not matter! Sign up sheets are posted around the building, so get your name on one of those sheets! We can’t wait to see your talent!

DVD’S & CD’S
The dvd’s and photo cd’s of ACA’s fall production of “A Christmas Carol” are now available in the school office. The cost is $20 each. We also have dvd’s of “The Man in the Bowler Hat”, which was premiered at Little Theater and was a joint effort by our Film Making class and our Performing Shakespeare class, available in the office for $15.
MOMS PRAYER TIME
Join a group of ACA moms to pray for our school, our kids, our teachers & administration, and our families. They will be meeting on Thursday mornings at 8:15 in room 104 (off of the Great Room across from the 2nd grade classroom). There are no commitments… just come when you are able to join them! If you arrive early (before 8:00) you can grab a cup of coffee in the school lobby!
COFFEE & FELLOWSHIP
Join us each morning when dropping off your child(ren) for school. Take an extra few minutes to park and start your day with some great fellowship as well as a great cup of Java Dave’s coffee. We have been enjoying these mornings with our teachers and parents and we would love to see you there. The coffee bar is open in the lobby between 7:30 - 8:00 a.m. each morning.
