NEW FAMILY SOCIAL

The ICE CREAM SOCIAL hosted by the ACA Hen House for new ACA families is THIS Friday, September 14th at 5:30 pm.  This will be a great opportunity for us to get to know you, and for you to get to know some other families at ACA! It will be held in the ACA Performing Arts Building.  If you are able to attend, please RSVP by texting or calling Mia Chasteen at 918-549-8201. We look forward to seeing all of you! After the social, you are welcome to stick around for the Senior Carnival that evening!



SENIOR SPONSORED CARNIVAL

You won’t want to miss this fun family event!  THE CARNIVAL IS THIS FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 14TH. from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. We will have games, face painting, karaoke, and much more out on the back parking lot.  You could even win a live goldfish and take the opportunity to put a pie in a teacher’s face! You can start off your evening between 6:00 and 7:00 with dinner (chicken, 2 side items, & beverage… 1 side item for kids meals) served in the ACA Great Room for the low price of $4 for kids 10 and under and $7 for everyone over age 10.  If you purchase your dinner ticket in advance, you can save $1 per meal!  Dinner tickets will be on pre-sale in the office through TOMORROW, Sept. 13th.  Tickets for games, face painting, etc. will be available the evening of the carnival - 10 tickets for only $5!  Plan to be here for all the fun and support the Class of 2019!



SPECIAL ACTIVITY SCHEDULE SEPTEMBER 13TH

Our Secondary students will have a special class schedule tomorrow, Sept. 13th.  Students may wear spirit wear because they could get messy! House time will be extended as each House will be assigned a job/project to accomplish for the school.  Please see the adjusted class schedule attached below.

 

 

ISRAEL STUDY TOUR 2019

If you are planning to join us for the Study Tour to Israel, please check your email. You will find a registration form that is due by Friday, September 14th along with the initial deposit of $300. Please turn both items in to Miss Becki at the front office.  As usual, this Junior/Senior Israel Study Tour is also open to parents and siblings of our Junior and Senior students (6th grade and up if touring as a family - at least one parent in attendance) as well as Staff and Alumni. We will begin our tour on Saturday, March 9th, returning Saturday, March 23rd (Spring Break for ACA will be the second week we are away).



PORTRAIT RE-TAKE DAY

If your student was absent on Portrait Day last week, or you forgot to send the order form with your child, don’t worry!  We have portrait re-take day scheduled for Tuesday, September 18th. Because of the weather the last time, Class Photos did not get taken, so all Class Photos will be done on re-take day, as well as anyone that was missed the first time or if you didn’t order a portrait package and you want to get one.  Attached below is the updated order form for re-take day.  Order forms and payment MUST be turned in at the school office by Tuesday morning!  Students having their portrait taken must wear a blue ACA polo shirt.  The photographer will only be here that day from 10:00 a.m. until about noon.  Call the school office if you have any questions.

 

 

FALL COLLEGE EVENTS FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

There are many great college events coming up in this fall and I wanted to let you all know about them.  Please make an effort to attend as many as possible as you will learn a great deal about the college search process, college admissions and various colleges/universities themselves.  If you have questions about any of these events, please call me at 918-724-4396 or email me at [email protected]

4th Annual College Night at ACA - Friday, September 21st from 6:30-9:00 pm.  We will have 7-8 representatives from both public and private universities on our campus, sharing information about their respective schools.  We will also have the Director of Financial Aid at JBU with us sharing about all things financial aid. You don’t want to miss this event!! You will learn a lot about the college process during this event.  There will be a Q&A time as well as a time to visit individually with all of the representatives. We will also be serving coffee and desserts! This is a free event that is open to the public, so please invite other families of high school students to attend.

4th Annual FAFSA Night - Friday, October 5th from 6:00-8:00pm.  This is a free event offered by ACA and NSU-BA.  Financial aid specialist, Bobbi McKinney, will be with us again to help interested senior families complete their FAFSA.  Please come with your tax information from this past spring. If you would like to take advantage of this great opportunity, please have both your student and parent FSA ID’s already created a few days before the event.  You can’t complete the FAFSA without them. The seniors have all of this information in the packet that I already prepared and gave them. If you have any questions, please feel free to call or email me.

PSAT - Saturday, October 13th from 8:00 am-12:00 pm.  This is the test that determines National Merit standing, taken during a student’s junior year.  ACA will pay the cost for any junior who would like to take the PSAT. Sophomores are welcome to take it for practice, but it will be $20 for them.  Please call Ms. Becki in the office to sign up. The deadline to sign up is THIS Friday, September 7th, at noon.

Chad Cargill ACT Prep Class - Tuesday, November 6th from 8:30-11:30am.  This class is offered on our campus once a year.  It has been a popular class for our ACA students in the past, so we are happy that we are able to offer it again this year.  Cost of the class is $35/student and will include hand-outs as well as his presentation of great test-taking strategies. Mr. Cargill will also have his prep book for sale the day of the class for those interested in purchasing it.  Please sign up with Ms. Becki in the office. This event is also open to the public, so homeschool students are welcome to participate. Please spread the word to your homeschooling friends!

PLC (President’s Leadership Class) Conference at NSU Tahlequah - Thursday, November 8th.  This is a full day of leadership activities offered by NSU’s President’s Leadership Class.  Interested ACA students have attended this the past three years and have enjoyed it each time.  There is a PLC scholarship that students can apply for that can pay their entire college cost at NSU, if chosen as a PLC member.  Students will learn about this scholarship during their day on campus. There is a cost to attend this conference and I will send out that information as soon as it is available.

If you are looking for a family to car-pool with for school this year, we can help you find someone who lives close to you.  We have a map that shows where all of our school families are located.
